Introduction: Tiny Origami Dragon Kite - Pequeño Cometa De Dragón De Origami

This is my weekend proyect, based in a simple kite and the origami dragons that I pleated when Iwas child, It is part of a serie of origami dragon kites  and hope you enjoy

For the dragon you will need

- some pieces of paper (can be a great one)
- sew and needle
- some of glue /tape
- scisors
- some patience and origami and maths skills

Note this kite its a complex version of THIS ONE (link) I recomend study that instructable before continue

Este es mi proyecto de fin de semana, basado en un cometa mas sencillo y los dragones que plegaba de niño, Es parte de una serie de dragones que he hecho y espero que les guste.

Para el dragón vas a necesitar:
- algunas piezas de papel (o una grande)
- hilo y aguja
- pegamento /cinta adhesiva
-Tijeras
- Algo de paciencia, habilidades en origami y en matemáticas, tampoco vienen mal

Nota: este Intructable, es una versión complejizada de ESTE OTRO (link), recomiendo que lo estudien antes de continuar.

Step 1: Preparing the Paper - Preparando El Papel

you need cut the paper into this pieces

for the body: a strip of 12 X 48 cm (maybe you need use the scisors and the glue)
for the wings part: a square of 24 cm on side
for the head: a 18 cm square is fine (by experience I used a 12 cm and doesn't look god)

I had some pieces cuts like squares of 24 cm, Because that I use 2 strips and glue when are folded, but if you care, the order doesn't matter.

necesitas cortar el papel en las siguientes piezas

para el cuerpo: una tira de 12 x 48 cms (quizas nesesites pegar papeles)
para la parte de las alas: un cuadrado de 24 cms por lado
para la cabeza: un cuadrado de 18 cm esta bien (yo use uno de 12 cm y no se vio bien)

Yo tenia algunas piezas de papel cortadas en cuadrados de 24 cms, por ello use 4 tiras y las pegue cuando ya estaban plegadas, si tienes cuidado, no importa el orden en que lo hagas.

Step 2: Pleating the Body - Plegando El Cuerpo

At the long strip, you need fold paralels lines each 1,5 cm, if you had a math eye, can see that 1,5 is 48/ 32 or 48/2⁵, that means if you fold the strip by half and haf of half six times can you do this exactly.

When you had mark the pararlels, can fold the body as long like simple kite (link if you didn't studied) (This part is so boring for a detailed explanation, because that I wait you at the next step)

Note: if you scale the model for making another size, the rectangles must had a 1/8 proportion (1,5 cm / 12 cm)

En la cinta larga, necesitas plegar lineas paralelas cada 1,5 cm, si tienes ojo matemático, puedes ver que 1,5 es 48/32 o 48/2⁵, lo que significa que dolando la cinta por la mitad y por la mitad de la mitad, seis veces, lo puedes hacer exacto.

Cuando hayas marcado las paralelas, puedes plegar el cuerpo a lo largo como el cometa simple (link por si no lo estudiaste antes) (esta parte es aburrida y larga para una explicación detallada, por eso esperare en el próximo paso)

Nota: si escalas el modelo para otro tamaño, la particion debe dar rectangulos de proporcion 1/8 (1,5 /12 cms)

Step 3: Folding the Wings - Plegando Las Alas

Now with the 24 cm side square,

1.- mark the center line
2.-mark a 1/8 (of the width of paper) paralel lines from center line in both sides
3.- rotate the paper 90º
4.-pleate a paralel lines fan (yeah a paper fan) marking on the paper 16 rectangles. (by the half and the half of the half 4 times)
5.- using lines trougth the fan pleate a part of the simple kite on the center
6.- collapse all

Ahora con el cuadrado de 24 cms,

1.- marcar la linea central
2.- marcar lineas paralelas a 1/8 del ancho del papel a ambos lados de la linea central
3.- rotar el papel en 90 grados
4.- plegar un abanico de papel (lineas paralelas) para dividir el papel en 16 rectangulos. (la mitad y la mitad de la mitad... 4 veces)
5.- usando las lineas que atraviesan el abanico, plegar una parte del cometa simple en la mitad.
6.- colapsar todo

Step 4: A Clasic Origami Dragon Head - Una Cabeza De Dragón En Origami Clasico

this is the artistic part I had improvised this head, It's not the best, but you can use yours arts skills for improve.
I only put a photodiagram, because I had improvised it, and you can do your own model.

esta es la parte artistica, yo improvise la cabeza, no es la mejor, pero puedes usar tus habilidades artisticas para mejorarla.
solo pongo fotos referenciales, por que lo improvise, asi que tambien puedes hacer la tuya.

Step 5: Puting All Together - Todo Junto

this is simple, glue all the pieces together, when It is allready, put the string and now you have a dragon for your crown.

look the photos, it's not complicated.

esto es simple, pega todas las partes juntas, cuado este listo, pon la linea, y seras el dueño de una dragón para tu corona.

solo mira las fotos, no es complicado.

Step 6: Go Outside - Sal Afuera

Fly the dragon, beware of electric lines, another people and things around you, I have no responsabilities about the scary grangers worried about the farms atacked by dragons or knights killed in crusades. Enjoy It.

Vuela el dragón, cuidado con los cables, personas y tu alrededor, yo no me responsabilizo por grangeros asustados por sus campos atacados por dragones ni por caballeros muertos en cruzadas. Disfrútalo.

Step 7: Experiment! - ¡Experimenta!

I think if you have problems with fly it, use another kite as lifter on the line, I had seen some dragon kites with the lifters painted like a eclipse, with the dragon shadow.

Quizas tengas problamas para volarlos, creo que una buena idea seria usar otra cometa elevadora, he visto fotos de dragones que usan este sistema algunas llevando dibujos de eclipses con la sombra de un dragon.
