Intro: Top 5 Reasons for Thinning a Fruit Tree & How to Do It.

Most fruit tree owners read about the fact that in order to get high-quality fruit, we should thin the fruit. Talk about easy to say and hard to do.

It's hard to take a small, green, immature, fruit that promises to turn into an amazing peach or plum off of a tree. Actually, make that painful, until you understand why.

Once you know why humans have practiced fruit thinning for centuries and what are the benefits of it (for you and the tree), you will be eager to do it.

STEP 1: Top 5 Reasons for Thinning Your Fruit Tree & How to Do It.

Not sure how to go about it? It's easy.

Actually I was applying this info to my apple & pear trees...is that okay? I would like to know how to prune them. Thanks

Yes you can apply this to all fruit trees. Keep in mind very small fruit such as cherries need not be thinned. As the fruit gets larger leave more space between fruit. Use your judgement and look at the results when the fruit is ready. That will be your best teacher.

I plan to make several videos about pruning. To get updates subscribe to our Youtube channel

wonderful video!! Been looking for something like this for years!! Explains why I only get a good crop every other year. thank you! Could also do a video on how to trim fruit trees? Mine are growing all over the place and I am afraid of cutting it incorrectly. Thank you!!

Thank you, glad you liked the video. I prune my stone fruit trees at least twice a year. Once to control the size and once to promote good health and vigor. I'll make a video this year and upload it.

Do you get Peach Leaf Curl? If yes watch this video, to understand the disease and then later this year I will upload a video on how to fix that problem in an environmentally sound way.
