Trampoline Sprinkler 2.0

Intro: Trampoline Sprinkler 2.0

When I was kid one of the best things during summer was putting the sprinkler under the trampoline and jumping on a soaking wet and slippery black tarp. But it never really got we enough for me, and the water didn't make it through the tarp very well.

So I propose a different idea. I give you the Trampoline Sprinkler 2.0.

STEP 1: Materials Needed

1/2" pex water pipe

1/2" pex tee

2 - 1/2" pex couplers

graden hose to pipe thread adapter

pipe thread to 1/2" pex adapter

8 - 1/2" pex crimps

a bunch of 8" or more zip ties

enough 1/2" pex line to wrap the circumference of your trampoline

I got this all from my local home centre and it cost right around $20

STEP 2: Tools You Will Need

a pair of pliers

side cutters

pvc pipe cutters

a drill

crimper (there are a few different kinds. Make sure you get the crimps that fit your crimper)

and a 1/16" drill bit

STEP 3: Hose Hook Up

Take the garden hose to pipe thread adapter and the pipe thread to 1/2" pex adapter and put them together like in the first picture. Crimp on a short length pex line, long enough to reach from the ground to the top of your trampoline. I used the 1/2" tee at the top of the trampoline and crimped it onto the pex line.

STEP 4: Running the Pipe

I placed the 1/2" pex line under the springs of the trampoline and zip tied it to the frame. Making sure the knobs of the ties were rotated downward so my kids wouldn't scratch themselves as the climbed on and off the Trampoline. I also pinched the pipe between a few of the spring and the frame so the line wouldn't rotate under the frame. At a few points i had to use a 1/2" coupler to join the two pices of pex because I could only buy either 20' lengths or 100' at a time. So i went with a coupler.

I also went around a drilled a 1/16" hole in the pipe. I just kind of eye balled them at at good angle for the best arch. I counted the number of spaces between the springs and dividing them by how many holes i wanted. I started with 8 holes and tested the size of the stream of water. I ended up putting 32 holes around the trampoline, that ends up putting one every 3 spaces. I got the best spread from that set up.

STEP 5: Let the Kids Play

It turned out great in the end. I really enjoyed making it and it only took me an hour. I think it worked out well. Now to just let the kids try it out.

me and my neighbor tried to pute sprinklers on the trompoline and it never worked thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the great idea. I made one for my kids trampoline as well and they love it. I did however make one minor change to the supplies; I used flexible sprinkler pipe found in the automatic sprinkler section of my big box home improvement store. This pipe is cheaper to buy, has cheaper fittings, needs no special tools to assemble, and is made for outside. Took me about an hour with my kids help to get it put together.

This takes me right back to childhood and this would have been so much better than putting the sprinkler under the trampoline! I love this!!!
