Introduction: Trashy, Trash Collecting Astro Robot

About: I am an author and a maker. My current project is Santa's Shop. I'm working on a science fiction type book--more later. @EngineerRigsby

I've been working to find a good use for Astro robot and Trashy comes close. If I call Astro, it will bring the trash can to me, then return home when I'm through--saves me all the work of walking 20 feet to throw something out. Another big benefit--placing my trash can on Astro's back (instead of the floor) frees up a good two square feet of floor space.

My previous attempts at finding uses for Astro (documented on Instructables) include Snacky, Cool Can on Command and Diaper Hero.

Because I'm only using a cardboard box, cardboard, glue and masking tape, this is easy enough for anyone who is searching for a purpose for Astro.

Supplies

Astro robot (available on amazon.com--sort of (invitation only or purchase "Astro for business"?)

Trash can

Cardboard box

Glue

Masking tape

Step 1:

Cut a piece of cardboard according to the dimensions in the photo.

Step 2:

Bend along the lines to create a "U" shaped piece of cardboard.

Step 3:

Bend the cardboard outward to support a box.

Step 4:

Find a cardboard box that is slightly larger than the selected trash can. Leave the flaps inside as they will help support the can.

Step 5:

Glue the U shaped piece to the bottom of the box.

Step 6:

Make circles (sticky side out) using masking tape. Place the circles on the U shaped cardboard.

Step 7:

Insert the cardboard trash holder into Astro's load bay. Add a trash can and Astro will be ready to search for you anytime you need to dispose of trash.
