Introduction: Tree of Knowledge

To start off this project, I needed to think of things that needed to be organized. I walked around my home got some ideas. Some products I thought about were: an automatic bed folder, an organized closet, a foldable piece of furniture, and an organized bookshelf.

Step 1: Research Ideas/Explore Possibilities

For my ideas, I thought of some improvements I could make. For the storage shelf, the heights would be customizable and have wheels. The bookshelf would be shaped like a tree, with the shelves being at 45-degree angles.

Step 2: Selecting an Approach

Not knowing which idea to follow, I used a spreadsheet to see which one scored the highest. The bookshelf was best, so I followed through with it.

Step 3: Refining the Design

I based my design on the picture above. I worried that this would not have enough support and could collapse, so I would make the wall bigger. I engraved some of the book genres onto the shelf so it would be more organized. I would make a compartment on the bottom since you could not fit any textbooks onto the shelves.

Step 4: Sketching the Prototype

Firstly, I started out with the sketch shown above. I would make the final prototype similar to it.

Step 5: Creating the Prototype

Since I am not good with woodworking and have no tools, I decided to make it in Fusion 360. Here are some photos that I took of the final prototype. Since I did not have enough shelves, I made more on the top. It looked like a tree so I called it The Tree of Knowledge.
