Step 1: What You Need

For making a simple

tribal mask, you need the following things :

Air dry clay. The amount depends on how big you want your mask to be.
A pin to make patterns and designs on the mask.
A sponge.
Water.
Oil colours.
Paint Brushes.
A base
A rolling pin

Cover your base with

newspapers or tissues.Take your clay on a flat surface and make it round and flat with a rolling pin.

Step 3: Next...

Now spread the clay on the base uniformly and, with the help of a sharp pin, cut the shape in which you want your mask and do the detailing of the mask. You can be as creative as you want at this step.

Step 4:

Now wet the sponge and squeeze it to remove ALL the water. Now move this sponge gently on the whole mask and try to eliminate all the visible cracks.

Don’t forget to dry the sponge entirely before using or you will end up with a basket full of mud. Now let the mask dry for the next 24 hours in a dry, cool, and covered place. Or you can cover it with a polythene bag.
