Introduction: Triple Chocolate Cake
This is one of my childhood favorites. Foodies, don't scoff at the fact that I used cake mix. This is still a delicious cake and an added bonus is that It's incredibly easy to make.
Step 1: Ingredients
8oz sour cream
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
4 eggs
Duncan Hines Devil's food mix
Instant pudding (small package)
1 cup chocolate chips
1 tbs cocoa powder
strawberries for garnish
Step 2: Mix Everything Together
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together the oil, water, sour cream, and eggs in a large bowl using a hand mix. Next, add the cake mix then the instant pudding. Once the batter is smooth, add the chocolate chips.
Step 3: Prepare the Pan
Coat a bundt pan with grease (I've found that butter works best, but vegetable oil or spray also work). Cover the grease with a layer of cocoa powder. You can use flour in place of the cocoa powder, but I like cocoa powder because it doesn't show on the cake when it is removed from the pan.
Step 4: Bake
Pour the batter evenly in the bundt pan. Use a spatula to even out the batter on top. Bake for about 35 min. Test with a toothpick to see if the cake is cooked through. The toothpick should be clean when it comes out of the cake when the cake is ready.
Wait 10 minutes before removing the cake from the pan. If the cake sticks at all, run a knife around the edges to loosen it.
Step 5: Decorate
Sprinkle the top of the cake with powdered sugar and garnish with strawberries. Enjoy!

Oh my Hat!!! So I made this cake for my Birthday and tweaked it a little, my mix was too dry so I added some buttermilk in...about 100ml or so and I didn't have chocolate chips but instead chopped a slab of dark baking chocolate up roughly and then I baked it in two sandwhich cake tins. I covered it with dark chocolate ganache and chocolate fudge icing....It was SOOOO sweet with the icing, but SOooooo chocolateey....people almost died it was so nice! Thank you for sharing an amazing recipe!

Looks great! What sized Duncan Hines cake mix did you use? I've read that some of their packages have been down-sized by a couple of ounces. Also, can you use NON-instant pudding? Thanks.

I just used the standard size. On the back it should say that you can use it for bundt pans. I did not realize they down-sized the packages, but I made this cake just last week and it worked just fine. Nope, it should be instant pudding!

HollyHarken, great idea! I'll have to try that. You would probably have to try a couple different recipes to get the texture right, but I'm sure it would turn out well.
aloggia, your wife has great taste! My mom and I make it for my brother's birthday
every year and It's a big crowd pleaser.

This is the cake my wife has been having for her birthday for about 30 years. I've been making it for her for about 20. It is simply delicious.

Yummy! I'm wondering if it will work from a scratch cake instead of using a boxed cake mix.

instant pudding does not need to be cooked, just mix in milk and it becomes pudding.

There are two types of boxed puddings: cook & serve and instant. The instant pudding preparation only requires fluid and mixing. Both types are available in grocery stores.
