Introduction: Tron LightCycle

About: A fellow hobbyist venturing into creative ideas

Welcome to the world of Tron. Here you will find your Tron Lightcycle which is prepared for you to take a ride.

Create this glow in the dark Tron Lightycle to decorate your room/home. It requires nothing other than newspaper(primary) and color.

Enjoy the ride.

*Don't sit on it, you know why.

PS: The lightcycle is a static model.

Improvement: The tires may be made dynamic using a structure similar to a bike.

Supplies

1. Newspaper - around 15 single pages.

2. Glow in the dark paint (Can find online or in stationary, if buying, buy the one with infinite glow).

3. Pair of Scissors.

4. White poster color paint.

5. Black color paint.

6. a circular tube for reference (any shape with a circle) for the wheel.

7. Fevicol.

8. Fevikwik.

9. Papier mache glue mixture. (I have created by mixing 2 tablespoon flour with 1 tablespoon glue and half a cup of water) and strips of paper, just tear two 2.5cm wide strip from folded newspaper and then cut in half-lengthwise to get multiple strips.

10. 1 white sheet of paper.

11. a thin stick of wood/plastic (should be sufficiently long to create long sticks of newspaper).

Step 1: Create a Stick of Newspaper From the Thin Wooden Stick.

1. Take the thin stick and keep the middle at one edge of a newspaper page at 45 degree angle.

2. start rolling the newspaper around the stick.

3. as soon as the stick is covered, remove the stick.

4. keep rolling the newspaper until end at which point, paste it.

5. this is one stick of newspaper.

6. Create 9 such sticks.

7. pick one stick and press to flatten it.

8. roll the stick against the circular reference, for me, it is a glue bottle.

9. remove the bottle and paste the edge of the stick.

10. Check figure.

11. This is my reference wheel.

Step 2: Create 8 Wheel

1. Use the reference wheel and wrap around this reference the stick.

2. flatten the stick and start rolling around the reference starting from one end.

3. paste the other edge of the stick and remove the reference wheel.

4. you now have one part of the original tire.

5. create 6 such parts.

6. pick two tire parts.

7. wrap the remaining two sticks of newspaper around these parts to make them bigger, these are the center of the tire of cycle.

8. the center would be thicker to give a curve shape.

Step 3: Stack Two Pair of Circles to Create a Wheel.

1. stack two small piece of circle around 1 thick piece of circle and paste them together.

2. create two such pieces which are the tires.

Step 4: Create a Frame for the Cycle.

1. create two more sticks of newspaper.

2. cut one stick up to the cycle body length plus margin*.

3. fold the other one in a rectangular frame with the cycle width as the width and the cycle body length minus the tire length (the center part of the cycle) as length.

4. keep the reference wheel from step 1 and make sure to insert the pieces through this part for structure.

5. as shown in the figure, fold the margin for the former and paste each end on to the tire.

6. fold the latter piece through the tires and the reference wheel and paste each piece with the tires and itself to get the structure for the lightcycle. One may create a different structure as required using newspaper sticks or any other method.

Step 5: Create the Body.

1. fold one sheet of newspaper into crumpled-egg shape.

2. insert this piece between the structure on one side.

3. fold one sheet into a square shape, fold one edge into a triangle shape as shown (this is the seat).

4. cut one small piece of newspaper stick for the handle.

5. paste these three pieces on to the cycle.

6. the oval goes on one side into the frame for bulkness.

7. the seat goes onto the other side with the triangle towards the center.

8. the handle goes on one of the tire.

9. check figure for reference.

Step 6: Papier Mache for Form

1. apply small strips of paper on the tire after dipping them in papier mache.

2. apply small strip on the oval frame taking the frame as the base of the body.

3. apply papier mache on the gap to fill it.

4. apply papier mache to the gap between the tire and the body(both sides).

5. apply one strip on the handle to integrate into the body.

Step 7: Apply Black Paint and Varnish (I Have Used Matte for the Dullness)

1. apply black paint to the whole bike.

2. apply varnish to the whole bike.

3. wait to dry.

4. while waiting, create four more circular pieces as the glowing part of the two tires.

5. paint these pieces white.

6. apply glow in the dark paint to these pieces.

Step 8: Fit the Tire Pieces on the Tire.

1. The 4 glow in the dark pieces are pasted on the four edges of the two tires.

2. I have applied glow in the dark on strips of white paper for other pieces of the bike and pasted them.
3. Place the bike in a source of light for around 30 minutes and..

4. Place the bike in the dark.

5. Your LightCycle is ready to go for a ride.
