Twisted Ring

Intro: Twisted Ring

In this instructable I'm going to show you how to make these twisted rings. Once you've got the hang of it, it takes only five minutes to make one!

STEP 1: What Do You Need

What do you need to make this

- a round object matching the size of your finger. For me, the inside of a lip balm works perfectly
- wire
- pliers

STEP 2: The Wire

Cut the wire. If you want to make a two-coloured ring, cut two colours of wire at the same length. Twist them a little bit in eachother as shown.

STEP 3: Starting With the Base

Take your round object. Working with both sides, wrap it around two times. Make them turn around eachother to 'lock' the shape. Now you can take it of the base and try if it fits.

STEP 4: The Twist

If it fits, put it back on the base. This makes working a lot easier. Start turning the wire around. And around. And around. When you like the size of the circle, move along to the next step.

STEP 5: The Last Pieces of Wire

You can work the wire away by 1. wrapping it underneath the circle and cutting it of or by 2. wrapping them around the ring. These are the two teqniques I used for the two rings shown, the first for the coloured ring, the second for the silver coloured ring.

STEP 6: That's It!

It's finished! Hope you enjoyed it and.or found it usefull.

Bye!

Those are pretty! What size wire do you suggest?

Thank you so so much! This makes my ring obsession much cheaper <3

I can't wait to try this with my Girl Scout troop! What guage wire did you use? Thanks!

Sounds like a perfect activity! The ones in this instructable were made with gauge 26 / 0.5 mm wire, but I wouldn't recommend anything thinner than that. Anywhere between gauge 20 and 26 should do / between 0.5 and 0.8 mm !

I like this idea, and it looks good. I used a 16 gauge soft brass wire to make this and it looks awesome. Well after a few tries. Unfortunatly I don't have a camera to share it. :(

Thanks for sharing!

i made it :) thanks emily
