Introduction: USB Macbook Charger
As i am traveling a lot for work and also volunteering in Africa i was looking for a device so i could use my macbook in remote areas without electricity.
As the only battery i carry with me on those trips is my powerbank, it would be ideal to use it also to give some power to my laptop.
Another point i also wanted is keeping the macbook charged on the airplane, and on most planes you have only a USB port at your disposition.
Step 1: BOM
- 1 plastic project box Aliexpress 5 Pcs DIY 100x60x25mm Plastic Electronic Project Box
- DC connector 5.5*2.1
- USB male to DC cable
- Magsafe2 cable
- some wire
- LM2577 DC-DC Adjustable Step-up Power Converter Module
- Soldering Iron
Total cost +/- 20$
Step 2: Drill the Holes in the Box
Drill 2 holes in the box for the connector and the macbook cable
Step 3: Soldering the Wires to the LM2577
Solder the wires to the LM2577
I also put some tape on the back of the LM 2577 to fix it in the enclosure
Step 4:
As i wanted to know the output voltage of the device on the go, i installed also a small volt meter.
Step 5: Solder the Wires
Solder the wires, from the DC plug to the input side of the LM module
From the Macbook cable to the output of the LM module, add some heat shrink to avoid any short circuits
Step 6: Hotglue Time
I used some hotglue to fix the cable
Step 7: Finish
Now enjoy your build, it's working very good.

now great idea but you have to work little more by building a power bank with more power and capacity

I once built a similar setup with the Xiaomi Powerbank. But it
delivers maximum 2.5A, which makes 10-13W. My MBA needs in average
10-20W, so the output power of the Xiaomi Powerbank was never
sufficient. What's your experience?

Nice power supply setup.
