Introduction: USB Thumb Drive Zippo Lighter Case Mod (Pocket-Sized Contest! VOTE FOR ME!)

Tired of that boring looking USB thumb drive?
Spice it up with this Zippo Lighter Mod!

Step 1: Supplies!

You'll need a few things to make this instructable happen.

Here's the list:
Hot Glue Gun + Glue
Pliers/Snips
USB Thumb Drive
Old Zippo
Two strong magnets

Step 2: Taking Apart the Thumb Drive.

Grab some pliers and snips and pull the thumb drive apart.
Instead of grabbing the metal USB circuit board, only pull and snip away at the plastic.
You will get a very small circuit board, and the remaining plastic casing.
You can throw away the old case, since we are building a new one! :D

Step 3: Taking Apart the Zippo.

This part is easy.
Simply pull the fuel and ignition box out of the casing.
You can either save the fuel and ignition box, or throw it away.
All we need is the casing.

Step 4: Line It Up!

Put the thumb drive circuit board into the Zippo casing.
You want it closer to the hinge so the top of the usb board does't block the casing from closing.

Step 5: Glue It Up!

Start pouring hot glue at the base of the casing and wait for it to solidify a little.
This will help hold the circuit board in place for the rest of the gluing.
Then, pump glue into the casing until it almost reaches the top.

Step 6: Place the Magnets!

Now, take two magnets and place them at the unhinged end of the lighter.
This will keep your thumb drive closed so dust doesn't get in it.
I used a old harddrive magnet, that i broke in half.

Step 7: Finished Product!

After topping off the case with hot glue, your New Thumb Drive Case is DONE!
Now all you have to do is sit back, and admire!
:D

Hello, and welcome to the Instructables community! It's great that you've decided to tell the world about something you've made by publishing an Instructable. We just wanted to let you know that your project still needs a little more work if you want it to be well received on Instructables. Projects that don't include certain basic elements tend not to get the attention that they deserve, and so we'd love for you to check out the list below of what makes a successful Instructable. Successful projects on Instructables include: - clearly written details of a finished project with instruction - as many steps as are necessary to explain your project - clear images that you took of your project for most, if not all of your steps - an intro image - proper spelling and grammar - appropriate cautions or safety considerations I'll give you another opportunity to make any final changes to your project before we publish it. Once you're all set to go, please republish your project and send me a quick comment letting me know that you've made some changes. I'll give it a quick final check to make sure you're on the right path, and then remove this note. Thanks for your submission and we hope to see your project published soon!

get expandiple foam. put the flashdrive into the zippo and glue it only at the bottom. them put in some expandble fom. let it expand and cover the magnet in some. it will look a who lot neater. then you can squeeze a little super glue or epoxy into it to help it stay in.

Magnets have no effect on flash memory. This is why solid state is so great. :)

of coarse there fake, but thats beside the point, they're cheap, they have really vgood build quality and in most cases the flint they come with produce more spark than my real zippo. check my zippo ible, it has one I got from deal extreme. By the way, no matter what company makes them, that style of lighter is always been called a zippo, just like the bic lighters are always called bics, even if they're not bics.

I'm 13 and I've got 11 Zippo Lighters. Most stores will sell you some. Usually some skate stores. Good luck
