Introduction: Ultimate Survival Knife Project
The basic survival gear is a knife, so today I am going to be showing you how to make a knife, but not just any knife, a bush craft knife. lets get started.

Get your lawn mower blade and draw the knife you want to make, first with a pencil then with a marker, then clamp it to your working table and cut the thick parts off with the grinder then finish molding it with the emery.
After you have cut your knife the way you want it, clamp it to the working table again and make the saws teeth on the top part of the blade with the thinning disk on the grinder.
Now clamp your knife again to the working table.
Put a little piece of wood between the vice grip and your knife to keep you from going over the spot where you want to make the thinning line on your blade.
Use your thinning disk on grinder.
Finish it off with the lime.
On the top part I did not leave the steel end touch so I did a fake thinning line, but in the bottom part where I want the blade to cut I let the steel end touch so I can sharpen it.
Do the thinning on the side of the blade that is going to stay close to the handle to make a place for your finger.
but don’t leave the sides of the steel meet so you can hold on that part with your finger without cutting yourself.
Sand your knife’s blades with grit 80, then 300 and 400. Do the thinning on the place where you made the saw’s teeth. Now sharpen your knife with 600 grit sandpaper.
This step is the hardest part, we will be hardening the steel, so take your time and don’t rush.
I have a furnace that king of random teaches how to make. you can either make one of those or use a gas furnace. Fire your furnace up and put your knife in the middle of the charcoal. Wait till it heats up and stays a Chery red color.
If that doesn’t work you will know the temperature is right when you put a magnet on the knife. If the magnet does not stick to the blade that’s because it has reached 800 Celsius.
When you reach that temperature you can lower your knife in oil and Let it there to cooldown.
Sand again your knife to remove The black oil.
Start with the lime on the thinned part, continuous with A 80 grit sandpaper on sander, then with 300, 400 and 600. After you finish sanding it make scratches on the handles place with the emery for the resin to stick to the steel.
Now make three holes on your knife in the places where you’re going to put pins in to hold the handle. Draw your handle on the piece of wood. Cut the handle off the wood with the saw and sand them to stay comfortable on you hand.
Make the holes on the wood for the screws to go through them as shown.
Now mix the epoxy resin together, the measurements are 100ml of resin for 30 drops of catalyst.
After you have mixed the resin and catalyst together cover the knife blade with a plastic bag and tape for the resin not to dry on your knife’s blade.
put it on your knifes steel, on the place where your handle is going to be as if it were a glue.
glue the handle together with resin and clamp it together with the vice grip and two spacers. Wait 24 hours to dry.
10th step. Last one!!
After you have waited 24 hours for the resin to dry unclamp it and remove the spacers you had put between the handle and the vice grip.
Cut off the excess of the bolts.
Sand your handle with sandpaper grit 80 to remove the resin from the wood, after with a 300 and 600 [ tip: when you are sanding the handle test it so that it feels very comfortable to hold].
Seal the wood or use wood veneer to give it a nice look.

Nice project, but you skipped one important step: you hardened the blade (which makes the blade very hard but brittle) but you didn't temper it to make it less brittle.
After the hardening and quenching, you need to heat the blade slowly to about 400 degrees and hold it there for a while, then let it air-cool slowly. That will prevent the blade from shattering the first time you try chopping a log with it.
