Intro: Underwater Flame

How to make an the look of a flame underwater. A great decoration for Halloween :)

You will need:
A Jug
Food colouring
Water
Wine glass
A glass tumbler
Candles

Make sure that the glass tumbler fits into the top of the wine glass. It is best to use a tumbler that is shorter than the the wine glass so that the tumbler doesn't poke out the top. ( unfortunately I could not find a tumbler to fit).

STEP 1:

Take the wine glass and place the glass tumbler inside. Fill the wine glass with water to the rim of the tumbler. Then remove the tumbler. Place the water into a jug and stir in some colouring ( Darker colours work best). Pour the content back into the wine glass.

STEP 2:

Take the tumbler and place a tea light in it. Now light the tea light. Be careful not to burn yourself when doing this. Now place the tumbler and the tea light into the wine glass and there you have it an underwater flame.

STEP 3:

If you want you can add candle wax around the wine glass to add to the image.

What about using a votive style candle in ti's own glass?
Other than that COOL idea I can think of a few places where I can do something like this. And why does it just have to be for Halloween? lol

You used to be able to buy candle holders like this in the 70's.

This is pretty cool :) was hoping for a way to actually waterproof a flame but this is cool as well. Wouldn't it look a bit more realistic if the tumbler was the same height as the wine top edge?

It would look more realistic but unfortunately I did not have a tumbler of that size :( thanks for your comment. :)
