Introduction: Urine Snow Globe
From the title alone, you are probably wondering "Why?" So, I probably should explain myself...
A while back I found myself visiting the hospital on a semi-regular basis. As I would sit in the hospital staring at the wall in boredom and waiting for the doctor to come back, I got to thinking about how I could share the joy of my trips with my friends and family. Normally, when you go somewhere, you bring back souvenirs like T-shirts... or key chains... or coffee mugs... or my personal favorite - the pinnacle of uselessness and oddity - the snow globe.
When this notion crossed my mind, it became painfully obvious to me that it would be ideal if I could bring back a snow globe for my loved ones as a keepsake from my hospital trip. But what would a snow globe from a hospital look like? Well, it would need to have a medical scene inside - that is for certain. It would obviously need snow. It would need to be in some sort of globe and - at that - what sort of globe is there to be found in a hospital? Well, urine collection cups, of course. and, if you are already going that far, you might as well go all the way and fill it with urine. Hence, the idea for a urine snow globe was born.
Although, fortunately, I go to the hospital far less these days, the idea of making a medical-themed urine snow globe has stuck in the back of my mind. I knew that sooner or later this had to be made simply to get it out my system. And so, I finally got around to making this. I see this as a great way for people to commemorate any notable illness (physical or mental).
Step 1: Go Get Stuff
You will need:
- A cup of water
- Face mask
- Nitrile gloves
- Playmobil (Child with Wheelchair)
- Playmobil (Hospital Room)
- Sterile Collection Cup
- Scalpel
- Krazy Glue
- Sterile grater
- Sterile PVC
- Tweezers (optional)
- Needle (optional)
Step 2: Gulp Gulp Gulp
Before you start, drink at least one glass of water. The more water you can drink now, the easier of a time you will have later.
Step 3: Face Mask
Put your face mask on as to help keep your snow globe sterile and prevent future microbial growth.
Step 4: Nitrile Gloves
Once you have your face mask on, you can also prevent contamination by using nitrile gloves.
Step 5: Wheelchair Child
Use your scalpel to carefully open the container for the Playmobil Child with Wheelchair kit.
Remove the contents from the box. Locate the plastic bag containing the kit's parts and make a careful lateral incision.
Remove the parts necessary for the assembly of the crippled child in the wheelchair and assemble it appropriately.
Step 6: Intravenous Bag and Stand
Use your scalpel to carefully open the container for the Playmobil Hospital Room kit.
Remove the contents from the box. Locate the plastic bag containing the kit's parts and make a careful lateral incision.
Remove the parts necessary for the assembly of the intravenous bag and stand. Set them aside.
Step 7: Sterile Collection Cup
Remove the sterile collection cup from its packaging and twist it open.
Step 8: Krazy Glue
Remove the sterile surgical-grade Krazy Glue from its packaging.
Step 9: Assemble the Scene
Krazy glue the crippled child and all of its accessories to the wheelchair. Once set, Krazy glue the wheelchair to the base of the lid.
Use your scalpel to amputate the base of the intravenous bag's stand, such that it is short enough to fit inside the container.
Glue the stand to the base of the lid, next to the wheelchair. Once it is set in place, glue the intravenous bag to the stand.
Glue the intravenous tubing to the arm of the crippled child.
Step 10: Make PVC Snow
Make snow by grating the PVC into a small container with your grater . When a suitable amount of snow has been created, pour in a small amount of water. This should be just enough water within which to suspend the snow.
Step 11: Urinate
Urinate into the sterile collection cup. Fill the cup just short of the very top.
Step 12: Add Snow
Pour your snow solution into the urine cup.
Step 13: Put It Together
Submerge your medical scene into the urine cup and twist the lid firmly shut.
Step 14: Shake
Shake it up and watch the snow fall.
