Introduction: Valentines Day Makeup Tutorial

Doing makeup can be pretty challenging when not knowing where to start; however, with a little bit of practice and a helpful tutorial, it can become less complicated. I have been doing this makeup look every Valentine's Day for the past couple of years! This is perfect for going out or just staying in to practice doing makeup.

Supplies

You will need the following items:

  • Moisturizer (Eucerin lotion & Skin Inc serum glow filter)
  • Primer (Hard Candy sheer envy 12 Hour Longwear Primer)
  • Foundation (Sephora Best Skin Ever shade 04N)
  • Concealer ( Elf Camo concealer shade True White & fair rose)
  • Setting powder (Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation shade 04 Porceline pink)
  • Makeup brushes
  • Beauty Blender
  • Makeup wipes
  • Eyeshadow palette 2x (Jeffree Star Weirdo & Sheglam Enchanted Deco Dance)
  • Blush (Profusion Liquid Blush Shade sangria)
  • Bronzer (Nars Bronzing Powder shade Laguna)
  • Highlighter (Sheglam Chroma zone shade Lucid)
  • Eye glitter (Qibest Eye Glitter shade 01)
  • Lipstick ( Revolution Ghostin)
  • Eyeliner ( Revolution Black Velvet lip liner)
  • Setting Spray (NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray)
  • Mascara (Lights Camera Lashes 4-in-1)

Step 1: Prime the Eyelids

Start by priming your eyes so the eyeshadow will be more vibrant, stay on longer, and prevent creasing. Take a couple of dots of concealer and apply that to your eyelid. Using a beauty blender, blend the concealer until it covers the whole eyelid and looks evenly coated. After applying the concealer, set the eyes with a setting powder or powder foundation.

Step 2: Moisturize the Skin

Use any moisturizer/lotion to hydrate the skin. I am using a small pea-sized amount of Eucerin lotion and a pump of the Skin Inc Serum Glow Filter.

Step 3: Eyeliner

Start by grabbing a black eyeshadow and an eyeliner brush. Coat the brush in black eyeshadow and then apply a small line to the outer v of the eye to act as a blueprint for where you want your eyeliner to be.

From there, extend the line as far out as you want. I usually stop it a little past my eyebrow. Once you are happy with the line you've created, connect the next line in the opposite direction until you have reached a little bit above the outer v and onto the edge of your eyelid.

Fill in the shape with a small detail eyeshadow brush, so it doesn't turn out patchy. Wipe where needed with a makeup wipe or makeup remover to make your line crisper. Once this has been completed, use a black eyeliner pencil to fill in your waterline. I am using a black lip liner from revolution, but I recommend buying an actual eyeliner pencil.

Step 4: Eyeshadow

Start by putting the lightest color at the highest part of where you want your eyeshadow to be. For me, I put it slightly above my brow bone. I am using the shade Big Band in the Enchanted Deco-Dance palette.

With a slightly larger brush, put your middle shade over your eyelid and the beginning of the lightest shade. I'm using the shade red velvet in the Enchanted palette. Using a clean brush, blend the two colors until you are happy with the application. I aim for the eye to be fully covered and have no patches.

Then with a small tapered eyeshadow brush, you will use the darkest shade. For me, this is the shade Freak Show in the Jeffree Star Weirdo palette. Place this on the outer corner of your eye and in the crease. Using the same clean brush you used to blend the previous shade, go over the darkest shade to blend it together. Use a white or cream color to carve out your crease. I start from the inner corner to about halfway of my eyelid. I'm using the shade Glamour Shot in the Weirdo Palette for this.

Add a powder glitter over where the white eyeshadow is. I'm using the Sheglam Chroma Zone highlighter in the shade Lucid. Add a white liquid/powder glitter to the inner corner and the skin of the eyelid above the upper lash line. Finish by blending both glitters together in the middle. Using the small tapped brush with the darkest color, go under the eyes close to the waterline and apply the remaining product. Finally, apply mascara to both the bottom and top lashes.

Step 5: Eyebrows

This step is for people with bleached brows, but if you have a regular brow routine, you can go ahead and do that now. For people with bleached brows or those who want white eyebrows, this is how I achieve that. Start by grabbing a brow brush and shaping your brows however you like. I usually follow my natural brow line. Put a swipe of white concealer on the back of your hand. I am using the Elf Camo Concealer in the shade True White. Drag your spoolie back and forth in the concealer until the brush is evenly coated, brush your brows into place until they are fully coated and to your liking.

Step 6: Full Face

Start by taking a makeup wipe and wiping off any fallout or mistake you have made. Prime your face with a primer. I'm using the Hard Candy Sheer Envy 12-hour long-wear Primer. Add a small amount to your fingertips and apply and spread onto your face.

On the back of your hand, add a small amount of Eucerin lotion and one pump of your foundation. I'm using the Sephora Collection Best Skin Ever in shade 04N. Mix both with your fingertip until fully incorporated, then apply to all parts of your face. Once applied, use a beauty blender to blend it in.

After thoroughly blending out the foundation, add concealer to the parts of your face you would like to brighten. I am putting a dot under the inner corner of my eye, below the outer v of my eye, on my chin, cupids bow, nose, middle of the forehead, and any spots that need correcting. I am using the Elf Camo Concealer in the shade Fair Pink.

Using the Profusion liquid blush in the shade sangria, I'm going to apply that to the tip of my nose and the top of my cheekbones. A little goes a long way, so a couple of tiny dots are all you need. Then begin applying bronzer to the top of your forehead and the hallows of your cheeks with a medium brush. I am using the Nars bronzing Powder in the shade Laguna.

Apply setting powder/powder foundation to the underneath of your eyes and below where you added contour. Use a brush or your finger to apply highlighter. I am using the same highlighter I used on my eyes (Chroma Zone). Apply to your nose and above your cheekbones. Finally, finish with a setting spray. I'm using the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. Once applied, use the beauty blender to dab in the moisture.

Step 7: Lipstick

Apply a small amount of lipstick to the bottom lip and begin to drag the bottom lip to the top to map out what lip shape you want. Once you are satisfied, you can repeat the process until your lips are fully coated and look even. I am using the Revolution Ghostin in black.
