Ladies (and dudes with long hair), if you haven't already heard of hair velcro, then this Instructable is going to blow your mind. Prepare yourselves.

Hair velcro is the 'hook' part of hook-and-loop fasteners. It's used just like a hair clip, but it doesn't give you that crease in your hair when you take it out. I use my hair velcro to keep my bangs off of my face when I'm putting on makeup, washing my face, or exercising. It's also perfect for putting your hair back on warm summer days. I'm obsessed with it! Trust me, you need hair velcro in your life.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You will need:

Velcro hair rollers (The velcro used for these is a little bit different than the velcro fasteners on everyday items. The hooks are longer.)
Lace, fabric, felt, fun foam, etc. (Anything that is lightweight and not too rigid)
Glue gun or needle and thread
Scissors

Step 2: Preparing the Velcro

Find the glue seam on your hair roller. Start at a corner and peal the velcro from the roller. Unroll the velcro from the roller and peal the other glued end off of the roller. Your velcro at this point will be slightly curved, so you can roll it in the reverse direction and hold it for 30 seconds or until it lies flat.

Done! You now have hair velcro! All you have to do is press it lightly to your head.

Your hair velcro is ready to use as-is, or you can decorate it. The next 2 steps shows 2 ideas of how I decorated my hair velcro, but you can pretty much do anything you want with it to make it your own. Just keep in mind you want to make sure you don't add anything too heavy or else the velcro might slide out of your hair. You also don't want to use anything too rigid because your head isn't flat. I have found that the as-is hair velcro holds hair better than the decorated ones. Other ways to modify the velcro could be to cut it into different shapes or paint it.

Step 3: Make a Bow

I made a bow out of lace. Then I sewed the bow onto the hair velcro. After I sewed it in place, I cut the velcro to the shape of the bow.

Step 4: Cover With Fabric

I glued around the edge of the velcro with a glue gun and then I stuck it to a scrap of fabric. Once the glue dried, I trimmed away the excess fabric.
