Introduction: Vincent Van Gogh Severed Ear Earring Holder

About: thirty something girl that loves crafting and collecting all things vintage!

I like to be organized - so I came up with this little stuffy inspired by the severed ear of Vincent van Gogh. My earrings were is such disarray that I had trouble finding matching pairs. Now with my "ear" I have them all in one nice little place and finding matching pairs is much easier!! Hope you make my little severed ear and organize your own earrings - thanks and enjoy!! http://tissupapers.blogspot.com/

Step 1: Finding the Perfect Ear

Find a friend that has really big ear lobes - they work the best. WIth your digital camera take a nice up close picture. Using your computer photo program decide on the size you would like to make your ear - my ear measures 8x4. Print out on paper - this is going to be your pattern to use to make your ear. Once you have printed out your ear on paper - cut out your ear *remember leave about 1/4 inch seam allowance for sewing.

Step 2: Sewing and Stuffing Your Ear

With felt in your desired color and stuffing -trace your pattern to the felt- cut out 2 pieces ( front and back of your ear) with wrong sides out - sew a seam around the entire ear leave enough space for stuffing once you have turned your ear right side out. Stuff your ear with fluff and finish off the hole to make your stuffed ear shape.

Step 3: Sewing the Ear Lines

Carefully with a pencil draw a faint line on your stuffed ear to give you guides for your sewing. Here I have sewed the basic lines of the inside of Carlos' ear.

Step 4: Adding the Details

Here I decided to give some ear hair to my stuffed ear - I just used some thick black thread and left about 5 loops that I finished off in the back of the ear then cut the loops to make them look like scary ear hair. Have fun with the details - add warts, veins or just about and thing that might be on an ear!

Step 5: Organize Your Earrings!

Now you can pull all of your earring together and put them on your ear! Here is a fun way to keep them nice neat and organized!! Have fun making my severed ear - thanks and enjoy
