Intro: Vintage Kitchen Utensil Display Board

Wall displays of vintage kitchen utensils have become popular. The hard part of making one is finding the utensils to work with. Thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, and garage sales are the best places to find them. Get or make a large bread or cutting board so you have room to mount several pieces without crowding them.

STEP 1: Arrange and Attach the Utensils

Decide if your display will hang vertically or horizontally.

Select the items you want on the board and decide on an arrangement.

Take a digital photo of the layout or make a sketch of it for future reference.

Determine how each item will be attached so it hangs properly. Some items may need two connections.

Mark the board where the wires will attach to the utensils.

Drill two holes about 1/4" apart at each mounting mark.

THIS IS WHERE YOU MAY NEED A SECOND PERSON TO HELP HOLD THINGS

For each molunting point, feed the wire through one of the two holes, from the back of the board, loop it around the utensil, and back through the second hole.

On the back of the board, snip the wire so you have two inch long ends to twist together to secure the utensil on the front of the board. Trim any excess wire and bend the twisted ends over so they are flush with the back of the board.

Continue wiring the utensils to the board until all are securely in place.

Add a leather or cord to the hole in the handle for hanging.

If you plan to hang you board horizontally, see Step 3 of my Instructable https://www.instructables.com/A-Knot-Board-for-the-cabin-or-den/

Sign and date the back of your project and hang it.
