Introduction: Vintage Postage Stamp Coasters

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Now, placing your stamp on home decor is a true memory, especially with these easy coasters!

Step 1: What You'll Need

To make these colorful trademarks, you will need...

  • ceramic tiles
  • images of vintage postage stamps
  • scissors and / or pinking sheers
  • Mod Podge
  • sponge brush
  • self-stick felt circles

Step 2: Search for Postage Stamps Online

First, go to the computer and research some vintage stamps that you like. Then, enlarge them on a photo editing software, like Photoshop, so they are slightly larger than you ceramic tiles. Then, print them out. I find it best to use a laser printer. Or if you're using an inkjet printer, make a second copy to prevent the ink from smearing.

P.S. I'm using images of vintage postage stamps found on etsy.com. These stamps feature images of crystal rocks and minerals. One of them features my birthstone: Amethyst.

Step 3: Cut and Paste

Now, cut your stamps using pinking sheers or by creating your own scalloped effect all around with regular scissors. Then, adhere them to the tiles with Mod Podge. Use as much as possible to prevent wrinkles on your finished product. Finish with a couple more layers on Mod Podge on top to seal. Let dry.

Step 4: Add Felt Circles

Finally, add some self-stick felt circles to the corners to prevent scratches on your surface.

Step 5: Done!

Ready to use, these vintage treasures will sure to wow your guests at your next gathering!
