Vinyl Album Wall Clock

Intro: Vinyl Album Wall Clock

This was designed and built for my wife for the past holiday season. She fan of Taylor Swift and Vinyl Records. When they released the Midnights collection, I've notices each album had a part of a clock printed on that back. So did probably everyone else. It got me thinking because this year she wanted to me to make her a gift so I got to work on tinker cad and this is what I came up with. All the STL files can be found on thingiverse along with complete instructions and parts list.

STEP 1: Meet in the Middle

The most important step was to design the part where all 4 albums would meet in the middle and a place to hold the clock movement. This is a 2 part assembly the box is designed to fit the clock movement as the plate is mounted onto the wall.

STEP 2: Tic Toc the Record Clock

When setting up the clock be sure that you get yourself a high torque movement with the long arms. When this clock is compete it 2' x 2' this part can be easily be found on amazon. In addition the file on thingiverse the middle of the album is blank and only has the numbers.

STEP 3: Living on the Edges

Take your time mounting it all the wall, you will need a level and a tape measure to square it up correctly to the wall. These clips are designed in a way that the albums can be removed from the sides buy simply siding them out of the corner. Note that this clips have a left and right hand side and you don't want to mix them up or you will not be able to remove the albums.

STEP 4: Final Countdown

Once you have all the parts mount on the wall slide the albums in and place the clock in the center and enjoy your new wall art. If your want to change the artist you want on display slip them out and add whatever that will put the biggest smile on your face and enjoy.

Hi this is awesome, I'm printing this in a Copper infused PLA for my wife and it's coming out really cool. I'm wondering about the parts on Thingiverse, the "sides.stl" files don't look like they match your photos, they seem to be "Open" on the outer edge, is that an error or an update? I was also curious how those should attach the the wall, are they double sided taped on? I don't see any mounting holes.

Thanks! She's going to love it!
That's on purpose so you will be able the slide the album in and out of the clock or if you ever wanted to change it. You can use bottom brackets if you want if you don't want the albums to be able to come out at all. Please post a picture of it when its done if possible.
Hi, for step one, did you buy the product in the picture? if so could you tell me where?
Nice project, but poor form on the follow through mate. Of course, I can't blame you for the subject matter, since your wife is a Taylor Swift fan. Where you missed the mark is; the subject should have been, "The 'Divinyls' Vinyl Album Wall Clock." Rookie mistake, no worries. All jokes aside, nice work 👏
Unfortunately, I need to be careful on what I named this project when I posted because of reasons
