Warhead Sour Candy Shooter

Intro: Warhead Sour Candy Shooter

One of my favorite candies as a kid (and adolescent) were all sorts of crazy sour ones which were always great for dares. Being an "adult", dares can be a bit more interesting and involve booze, so here's a fun shot inspired by Warheads, the sweet delicious hard candy with a face-imploding sour coating.

No worries - it's good and quite a lot of fun!

And there's a kid-friendly version!

STEP 1: Ingredients

You will need the following:

  • Lemon juice or lime juice
  • Blue curacao

Note: You can substitute grenadine for blue curacao to make this kid-friendly.

STEP 2: The Build

In a 2 oz shooter glass, fill roughly two-thirds with blue curacao.

Note: If you want more sour action, pour less.

Carefully float lime or lemon juice by pouring on the side of the glass slowly.

Note: A squeeze bottle helps.

Sip the juice until you can no longer handle it and then shoot the rest!

this would go so well in my cocktail dispenser made by these guys : http://www.thebeergiraffe.com/en/what-is-a-beer-tower/

Do you have any idea how I could convert this into a jello shot?

What is grenadine?

it's what Shirley Temples are made of (7up and Grenadine) It's a very sweet cherry like syrup made to mix into drinks. You can make your own which is much better, and some people use the liquid in a jar of Maraschino cherries as a substitute as well.

That's a great name if you use Puckers in the shot! :)

oh also the puckers are the same alcohol content of 30 proof/15% so the layering stays the same

Puckers also has a high sugar content which helps. :)

tried it then tried it with an assortment of pucker schnapps and WOW all I can say is AWESOME! I will defiantly push these in my bar for guests who want sweet yet sour. great idea thanks a ton

What a wonderful color! I definitely want to try this!

Thanks! If you try it, let me know what you think. :)

This is something i intend to make for a new years party. thanks much.

Yay! Let me know how it works out. :D

Thanks! I chose the blue curacao specifically because of its density, color, and flavor. I'm sure this can be done with Midori, but melon just doesn't seem quite right for a warhead candy. :P

eeek, my taste buds are already wincing! this is a great recipe :)

It's not that bad - blue curacao is super sweet. :)

But you probably don't want to do more than one in a night. :P
