Introduction: Washing Machine Door Salad Bowl.

There are many good parts in old washing machines. One of them is the Door. This I'ble will show you how to turn a Washing Machine Door into a Salad Bowl.

Step 1: Determine the type of screws or bolts in the door and disassemble it.
Step 2: Rip off the hard plastic cover. Usually a screwdriver and some dumb force is sufficient.
Step 3: Clean the door thoroughly.
Step 4: Search www.instructables.com for some recipies and make the salad!

Not into salads? Try using the door in a vacuum chamber for Vacuum Infused Fruit (for ice cream)

PS. Although the glass of the door is fairly thick, you can't use it in an oven. It's not Pyrex!

I've got two of these which are often pressed into service as dinner bowls, although the smaller one of the two (from a Hoover AE130) is a more reasonable size. The big one's a last resort!

wonder about lead content of the glass, in those cases , acids like fruit juice will make it leak out, l think. in dangerous doses

I think the dose (if present at all) is very low, especially compared with the lead content in for example Crystal wine glasses (up to 30% lead and we know that wine is acid). How about wine bottles that are kept for at least several years?
Theoreticaly I think you have a valid point, but in practice, your dangerous lead doses come from other sources.

I have had one of these for many years, and used it as an oven dish several times. As always, try this at your own risk.
