Introduction: Water-Balloon Tennis! 2012's Newest Summer Sport!
This summer has been unusually hot on the east coast, so to beat the heat I and my family, created a new game/sport to cool down. Introducing- Water-Balloon Tennis!! Perfect when you aren't quite in the mood for a water-balloon fight, and it's too hot to play real tennis.
Before Playing You'll Need:
Two people. You can play by yourself, but it's not as much fun! You could also play with more, but unless you have a lot of tennis rackets it would involve a lot of taking turns!
A tennis racket or two!
A stash of balloons or water-balloons.
Gameplay:
Start by filling a water-balloon, or two.
Stand 5-15 feet apart.
Pick one person to throw their balloon or throw simultaneously.
Hit the balloon thrown at you!
If the balloon doesn't pop, repeat the last step until it does, or until someone doesn't hit it.
Hints!
-If you want the balloon to pop on impact fill it as full as possible. If you fill it smaller you are likely to get a good number of passes to and fro out of it.
-The closer you stand the more passes back and forth you can get.
- Underhanded throws and hits are best for achieving optimum numbers of passes.
-This game is best played with a sprinkler running near by!
- If tennis rackets are not on hand, a baseball or cricket bat would work well too!
- This game could be played in a circle (or square or triangle) in a group setting.
That's all there is to Water-Balloon Tennis. So have fun playing and getting absolutely soaked!! Enjoy your summer everyone!

So many ways to have fun! In our 10 & Under Tennis class we blow up balloons so kids can find success rallying. Check out the program http://www.tennisnation.com/tennis-lessons/ we should mix up some water balloons for added fun! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Randy

I look forward to playing this . . . one day.
Here in the U.K. we have a different way of getting absolutely soaked : We go outside. Heatwave - PAH!
(We've had almost continual rain here since April :¬(

I went to London once when I was younger, and I remember alot of rain, and clouds. Not that I don't remember anything else. But what I do remember is paired with a nice grey sky! :- )
(I would suggest you try it inside.. but on second though, it wouldn't be a very good idea. Helium Balloon tennis perhaps?)

And when I was in London, there was no clouds at all! The Sun was sending its photons all 2 weeks while our group was there. So we figured out that we brought sun with us in London, but took it back, because in the last day there was some clouds and maybe even rain ^^

Yes, and we also found it a good way to use water-balloons without a full fledged fight.

This would be a great addition to the Picnic Challenge!

Definetly easy. Set up takes like.. 2 minutes. Unless you can't fill water balloons without popping them!! :) ( My friend popped at least 5 in a row once!)

I played a game called water weapon tester you hand ten kids Water Guns and Ten kids Water balloons and let them let loose and have fun. ( if some kids don't like getting hit with water in the face you could set some rules and get low power water guns if that doesn't help just use water balloons.) My kids played for 3 and a half hours. :D

That sounds like soo much fun!! :) I must procure some water guns (and more balloons, because I seem to be out!) and try soon! Have you ever tried playing it in a pool? I bet that would also be alot of fun!
