Introduction: Water Bottle Pot

I made a flower pot out of a plastic water bottle. I made this because there is always a problem with people throwing away their water bottles or leaving them on the ground. Before I started this project I brainstormed about what I could reuse. Luckily I had just finished my water bottle and it was right next to me. I then wanted to do something with the water bottle. I thought about how cool it would be to reuse a water bottle and make it into a pot. Some constraints you could have during this project are that you don't have flowers near you or you don't have the proper tools needed. I did some research and it said in the U.S. we throw 35 billion empty water bottles a year, and of those only 12% are recycled. So even if it's a small change, why not make a pot out of it? I also did a 3d model of the bottom half of the water bottle and the flower. The diameter is 2.5 and the height is 4 inches.

Supplies

For the supplies, you need scissors and an empty water bottle.

Step 1:

For the first step, you will need to cut the water bottle in half.

Step 2:

The next step is to go outside and find a flower that will fit nicely in the water bottle.

Step 3:

The third step is to get some soil.

I used the top half of the water bottle to get soil because I could not find anything else. You then need to put the soil into the bottom half of the water bottle. You may have the top half as a way to get soil later on, or to create another pot.

Step 4:

For this step, you must be careful with the flower's roots. Make a hole in the center of the soil and put the flower in. Then you must fill in the hole with the soil and water the plant. Make sure you put the flower where it can see the sun. Hopefully, you have enjoyed this project, and have a wonderful day.
