Introduction: Watermelon Mint Julep
A modern twist on the classic mint julep, this watermelon julep is a refreshing, juicy treat! This recipe takes advantage of summer's bounty of fresh melon and mint, and adds a fun new cocktail to your repertoire. If you can't find watermelon juice, check out how I juiced my own while making Watermelon Sangria. Just cut a whole in your melon, grab a stick blender and get in there. You could even mix up a "pitcher" of these right in the melon!

Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 4 fresh mint sprigs
- 2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
- 1 tsp simple syrup
- 2 oz fresh watermelon juice
Directions:
- Muddle mint leaves with simple syrup in a glass. Just spank the leaves a few times - too much muddling will turn it bitter.
- Fill the glass with ice and add bourbon. Stir to chill bourbon.
- Top with watermelon juice and garnish with a mint sprig.
Enjoy!

I have 3 kinds of mint in my gardens ! I am not sure which to use, Peppermint, Spearmint, or Chocolate Mint. Maybe I'll try and experiment with all 3. There is even some Lemmon Balm out there! Thanks, sounds yummy!

I love watermelon and this cocktail recipe sounds wonderful! I am definitely going to make it soon. The place I am from originally, some people inject watermelon with rum or vodka, bourbon or other spirit and slice it up after. It's fun and delicious too :-)
