Just brilliant. I was actually thinking of spots to go detecting, and one of them usually has waist-high weeds. Don't forget to let go of the trimmer trigger before reaching down lol.

I just bought an inexpensive metal detector and cut it up, glued some PVC pipe fittings, trimmed them to fit the weed eater tube, held them with hose clamps. Hot melt glue mostly, then spray painted it all black to match.

Dude. This is a GENIUS idea. As a former professional string trimmer (8 hrs/day, 5 days/week), this would have made the experience far more exciting. Certainly better than looking for discarded meth lab equipment along the margins of county parks.

With a pair of headphone earmuffs, you've made the trimming experience about as good as it can be. Share your hack, however hacky it might be, so that other people can learn from your example.

I haven't been able to figure out how to get the video into the Instructable. They want an upload, not a link, and I can't find my original Youtube upload. I'll keep trying.
