For drying out wet suit boots and gloves. This project is easy to make from some PVC water pipe, a fan from an old computer, and a few other pieces.

Supplies

5 foot length of 3/4" PVC water pipe

PVC joints as shown in photo

3/4" conduit clamps x2

Scrap piece of board or plywood (I used 1x6 20")

small screws x4

PVC cement

orange juice bottle

old computer fan

USB cable

electrical tape (or heat shrink)

Step 1: Cut and Assemble PVC Pipe Sections

Cut PVC pipe with a hacksaw to suit size of your boots and gloves. I used the following lengths:

10 1/2" x2

8 1/2" x2

4" x3

3" x1

1 1/2" x1

3" x1 (last section of pipe with flange)

Sand edges of pipe. I like to dry fit the pipe together before glueing it.

Step 2: Make Fan Assembly

You can buy a small fan or re-purpose one from an old computer.

For a computer fan, strip back wire on fan and on a spare USB cable. Attach red wire to red wire, and black wire to black wire. I soldered mine for extra strength. You can cut away the other wires. Bind each wire with electrical tape or heat shrink. PC fans are typically 12 volts and the USB power supply only 5 volts, but I find the fan runs with enough speed to dry my boots and gloves overnight.

For the fan housing, I used an empty orange juice bottle. Cut away the bottom. Place the fan inside and use a heat gun (paint stripper) to shrink the plastic bottle down around the fan.

Fit and tape the neck of the juice bottle to your last section of pipe.
