Introduction: What to Do With Eggshells?
Have you ever thought that there are a lot of uses of eggshells before throwing them away?I guess you didn't. What do you do with your empty egg shells? We always toss them into our food scrap recycling bin.
In this instructable I will tell you 12 ways of using eggshells instead of throwing them away.
1) The Fuel of Tomorrow?
Recently scientists have discovered that we can use egg shells to fuel anything. This isn't a thing an individual can do by themselves but you can surely try.
2) Egg face mask
Pulverize dried egg shells with a mortar and pestle, then whisk the powder in with an egg white and use for a healthful, skin-tightening facial. Allow the face mask to dry before rinsing it off.
3) Compost for soil
You can crack the eggshell into tiny pieces and use them as compost in your garden.
4) Calcium from eggs
You can powder the eggshell by hand as much as you can, then you put it in a coffee grinder so that it may become fine powder and then you can have 1/4th tea spoon a day as it gives 400 mgs of calcium.Oh and don't forget you need to add some lemon juice to the mixture.
5) Eco-friendly Household Abrasive
Shake crushed eggshells and a little soapy water to scour hard-to-clean items like thermoses and vases. Crushed eggshells can also be used as a nontoxic abrasive on pots and pans.
6) Less Bitter Coffee
Add an eggshell to the coffee in the filter, and your morning coffee will be less bitter. The spent coffee grounds, eggshell and bio-degradable filter are then conveniently ready for the compost pile.
7) Treat Skin Irritations
Dissolve an eggshell in a small jar of apple cider vinegar (takes about two days) and use the mixture to treat minor skin irritations and itchy skin
8) Egg shell decoration
You can decorate your emptied egg shell as beautifully as you can and then use it as house decoration.
9) Reduce acidity of soil
You can add crushed egg shell to your soil to increase the pH of the soil as eggshells are alkaline.
10) For growing plants
You can cut the eggshell carefully into half then put some soil in and grow plants.(I tried this, and it works quite well)
11) Egg carvings
First wash your empty egg and dry it, then take a drill/carving tool and carve something beautiful onto your egg.(I tried it and it didn't work for me as I am not good at crafts and stuff).(But I will add 2 pictures from the internet which will show you how they look).
12) Egg nightlight
This is the best thing I liked. You basically blow out the egg and then stick an LED into it.
You can do all these things with your eggshells instead of throwing the, away.

At no 4, should the egg shells be washed before they're pulverised and then consumed for the calcium

Putting eggshells in your soil also wards off snails and slugs, that makes it a nontoxic snail guard

Vishalapar,
What do you men when you said you changed them? If you said you took the pictures I beleive it.
Reply 11 years ago on Introduction
This ible is quite old right now so I don't actually remember exactly why I changed the images...but mostly because ppl thought that the images were taken from an external source...
Reply 11 years ago on Introduction
Well some people didn't believe that I took the pictures myself as they looked similar to the ones on the internet....so I decided to do the project again and take some more pictures and put them on as they are now...

Wikepedia is not that reliable because people can change info, and if the info is right, and they changed it, then the info is wrong. I would probally find another website that is popular for correct info.

I'll vote, too! You took these pictures yourself, right?

The author didn't reply to my question.
That's probably because he stole most (or all) of these pictures from other people on the net. Plagiarism should not be rewarded -don't vote for this image thief!

He didn't reply because it looks like you might not have given them a chance.

finely ground eggshell and superglue can be used to fix holes in aquarium snail shells. Apple snails are known for getting pits from the acidic water in aquariums. the glue/shell/paste acts as a natural bondo.

Cool!!!I will definitely try that!
