Introduction: White Chocolate Banana Brownies
I recently got this recipe from Back For Second's blog, and I wanted to share it here on Instructables.
These yummy little squares taste a bit like banana bread, but have a sweet, rich flavor from the white chocolate.
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
4 oz white chocolate
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 egg
120 grams of flour
2 medium ripe bananas
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp anilla extract
Also, preheat your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
Step 2: Melt It!
Put the butter and chocolate in a medium sized metal bowl and heat over low or medium low heat until melted.
If you are a bit squeamish about putting a metal mixing bowl on your stove, don't worry! You can easily melt this in your microwave using a glass bowl in 30 second bursts.
Step 3: Mash and Mix
In a smaller mixing bowl, mash the bananas using a wooden spoon or potato masher.
Add the sugar to the melted butter and chocolate, stirring thoroughly.
Add the mashed bananas to the butter/sugar/chocolate mixture.
Stir in the egg,
and the salt,
and the vanilla extract.
Finally, add the flour and mix completely.
Step 4: Pan Up and Bake
Move this mixture to an 8 inch square pan that you have pre-lubed with baking spray.
Park it in your 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out (mostly) clean.
Cool for 15 minutes.
Step 5: Cut and Serve
To cut these brownies (bananies?) i inverted the pan over a plate (Running a knife around the perimeter will help this). Then, cut into 16 lovely little cubes.
If you were going to garnish these, a bit of powdered sugar compliments the pale yellow color quite nicely!

Since I come from a country that uses different measures for ingredients, I have calculated the approximate differences. You may want to add or extract a bit from the numbers. :)
50g butter
100g white chocolate
1/4 tsp salt (if you use salted butter, forget this ingredient)
1 egg
120g flour
2 ripe bananas
60g sugger
1 tsp vanilia extract
preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius.
I hope it helps! :)

Hello... Any replacement for egg?

If ur trying to limit the fat & cholesterol from the eggs, you can omit the egg yolk & use 2 egg whites instead. Applesauce is a 1 for 1 substitute for fats such as butter, margarine & lard.

You might get away with using 1/4 cup of apple sauce... If you try it let me know how it turns out!

I think cocoa would fit better than powdered sugar for decoration...
I'd also suggest trying some additional melted white chocolate, when the whole has gotten cold...

I like the cocoa idea a lot!!

You meant vanilla extract not something else like almond right? 120 grams equals 4 ozs or 1/2 cup right? Just making sure.

These look really good and i will give them a try. It is slightky vexing that you have used 3 different units of measurement, g, oz and cups. Any chance you could make this more consistant and just use one eg g. Thanks.

I see how that could be confusing. I usually only use grams and cups, but the chocolate bar was exactly 4 ounces.

ooo I bet a bit of dark chocolate or banana drizzle over the top and some walnuts would be amazing..

Great little recipe, I think I'll give this a go in the coming days as I have just been inundated with bananas! One thing though, you forgot to add the flour in your write up. Otherwise great instructions :)
