Introduction: Widow Maker Table

About: I am a teacher who enjoys environmentally responsible woodworking. Most evenings will find me in the shop working with my now 8 year old son Shay who is both my greatest helper and biggest fan.

A "Widow Maker" was an old style of car and truck rims that came apart into two or three pieces. It enabled anyone with out special tools to change the tire on the rim. Downside of this ability was an element of danger. If you did not get the rim properly seated during reassembly they could explode violently when airing up the tire. I found the center section of a 1920's rim in the back country of Montana. It had a great look and I knew that I could turn it into something cool.
