Willow Costume From Don't Starve for Halloween and Cosplay (Video)

Introduction: Willow Costume From Don't Starve for Halloween and Cosplay (Video)

About: I'm an artist, baker and elementary school teacher in Canada. I'm a big fan of video games, paper craft and doing ridiculous things to baked goods.

Don't Starve is a rougelike fantasy/survival game which challenges the player to survive for as long as possible. Willow is a playable characters who is a little girl suffering from pyromania (this both helps and hinders her).

This costume is designed to be really easy, require minimal tools but still be scary. It will take you about an hour to make once you've gathered your materials.

Step 1: Questions You Might Have

Can I put the contacts in later?

You probably shouldn't. Putting them in first means you avoid getting makeup on them and avoid giving yourself an eye infection.

Why did you use a beauty blender?

Beauty Blenders are great for applying thin layers of liquid/cream makeup. I wanted the character to look like she had white skin instead of wearing thick white makeup. You could also use a flat, synthetic foundation brush, but I found that the face paint looked streaky.

Can I use something other than hair extension clips for the garland?

Definitely. But I LOVE the hair extension clips. They are super sturdy and the garland doesn't slip at all. I got them at Sally Beauty.

Do I have to contour?

No, but I do think it adds a little something-something. You're going to lose pretty much all your facial features with the white face paint, and adding fake shadows helps you reestablish your face.

Do I have to fill in the lips?

I find it's way more comfortable. Otherwise my lips feel dry and the paint feels tight.

Is the video sped up?

A little bit. You'd be here for an hour otherwise.

Why didn't you show the painting process for the garland?

The camera stopped recording! Sorry!

    I love that game

Yay I love Don't Starve, the style is so striking so I'm thrilled someone is using for something! I'm trying to convince the bearded man in my life to let me take some hair gel to beard and his hair so he can epic bearded Wilson!
