Introduction: Wire Star Christmas Ornament

Hello, this is my very first instructable!

I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful wire star christmas ornament, it's quite easy! I try to explain the steps very thoroughly, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Step 1:

What you need:

Lots of copper wire with different thickness:
- 1 mm thick wire (for the star shape)
- 0,6/0,7 mm thick wire (for fixing the stars and for filling them)
- side cutters
- pinch-nose pliers

+ paper and pen for the sketch

You  may also need beads, ribbons, etc. if you want to decorate them more. I like it simple :)

Step 1:

Draw a star in the size you like. Mine is made of ~10cm long lines.
This is necessary if you don't want a lame looking star :)

Step 2:

Step 2:

Make a hook on the end of the thicker wire with the pinch-nose plier. Don't cut the wire yet, because you don't know yet how much you need.
Put the hooked end to one point of the star that you drew before. Bend the wire according to the shape, using your fingrtips. Repeat this until you get the full star.
Now you can cut the wire, leave ~3 cm-s more at the end.

Step 3:

Step 3:

Bend the surplus around 2 or 3 times under the hook to fix it. Cut the rest with the side cutters. If the end of the wire is too sharp, push it to the "knot" with the pliers.

Step 4:

Step 4:

Cut 5 small, ~7-8cm pieces of the 0,6mm  wire. Twist them around the connections, starting from the middle, and ending on the outer sides of the star as on the pictures. Bend in the sharpe ends, if needed.

Step 5:

Step 5:

Cut a long, min. 150 cm piece of the thinner wire. Fix one end to a connection (twist it arund the connction 3 times) or anywhere you want.. :)
Start making loops, staying inside the star shape. Twist it also around the star once in a while to fix the loops inside.
When you're ready, fix the other end on some of the connections.

If you want to decorate your star with beads, use them during this step.

Step 6:

Ta-daaaa! It's ready! Add a ribbon to the hook, and start decorating your christmas tree! ;)
