Introduction: DIY Bead Stud Earrings
I love to collect beads, all kinds and colors ^_^ I always wanted to make bead studs, I don't know why this idea of making bead stud earrings didn't pop in my head before!
Have cute, colorful beads and craft wire? great! you can make these stud earrings in only 5 minutes :)
Lets start!
Step 1: Materials Needed
To make these stud earrings you'll need:
- Craft wire,
- Craft pliers - flat nose and cutting pliers,
- Pearl beads or any kind of beads (you'll need a pair of beads as we're going to make earrings).
Step 2: Wrapping the Bead
First of all measure the size of the bead, and keep that in mind.
Hold the wire from an end, do not cut it from the bundle,
Use the flat nose plier to bend the wire into 90 degrees, according to the bead size. I used 8 mm pearl bead so I had to bend 8 mm wire to 90 degrees.
Now carefully wrap the bead 2-3 times with the wire,
I wrapped the wire 3 times around the bead and kept the wire flat while wrapping but you can wrap over and over again if you want a thicker border around the bead.
Step 3: Making the Stem
Done wrapping the bead? now to make the stem of the earring.
Bend the wire downwards from where the wrap ends, see the first and second picture of this step,
Now use the flat nose plier to make another 90 degree (or more) bend on the wire on the center of the bead,
Keep 2 cm of the bent wire straight for the stem and cut the wire from the bundle.
Stud earring complete!
Step 4: Making Ear-stud Backs
I used an eraser or rubber to make the earring backs.
Use x-acto knife to cut the eraser into small square pieces.
Carefully push and screw the stem of the ear stud on the small eraser pieces to create a hole on it. There, you have backs for the earrings.
I made 9 pairs of bead stud earrings in 30 minutes! Since mothers day is coming, these stud earrings can be great as gift ^_^ my mom loves to wear pearl bead stud earrings and I'm super excited to give these studs to her as mothers day gift :)
Enjoy!
