Intro: Wooden IPad Stand With Recycled Hard Drive Parts

I made this stand as a birthday gift for my mother. She loves it and I thought I'd share it with you.  It's made from maple and I sized it to fit the iPad in it's protective case. There is access to all of the ports and buttons on the iPad so it can be charged while it's on the stand. I used the spindle and platter from an old hard drive and a 1/2" ball bearing and a spring for the rotation. I have a few more hard drive parts so I'll try to do a full instructable on my next build.

Let me know what you think.

I like your design. I'll probably try using it. I'll let you know how it goes.
This is really well done! With a few brass corners, and an Instructable, I think this would be a very popular Steampunk iPad stand!
Thanks for the comments. I will be building another stand soon, so I'll make sure to take pictures of each step this time.
Wow! That is a very nice looking stand indeed.
I am very interested in your instructable as well.
Wow! I love the hard drive idea.
I would love to see your build up.
