What is the ratio of water and vinegar?
You mean white vinegar.Do you mean just spread baking powder and then spray vinegar over it or dilute vinegar and then spray over the baking powder. Please reply ASAP.
Well then, I was going to buy a carpet cleaner for my home but now I won't 🙄

I use the vinegar and water but I use a damp cloth and iron. Just spray the stain with the vinegar and water mix then place a damp towel or cloth over the stain and iron over it. You can see the stain transfer from the carpet to the cloth in front of your eyes. The baking soda (once dried) will get out any smell that may be present and doesn't make the carpet hard.

Thanks for the tip Gary. The stain is much better. Still working on it, but it's coming along nicely. However, I don't think we'll be able to use our iron for clothes anymore...

Hi Gary, I'd LOVE your assistance and advice because I have 4 stains that look exactly like yours.. I'm SO nervous I'm going to make it worse by doing this..

What if my carpet doesn't really have stains and is just very brown because of dust
I did all the steps advised on this post but my carpet has now changed colour and is more yellow. In time will it blend in with the rest of the carpet or not?
You must use white vinegar, not regular vinegar.
Do not use this method on old coffee stains. It ruined my carpet, discoloured it. I used this method on about a dozen other old stains and it worked great but on the coffee stain it somehow reacted with the coffee and severely discoloured my carpet
What kind of vinger do u use
While some of this is the fault of the original poster, many of you are to blame for not researching properly. The reason your carpets are turning yellow is because you're using regular vinegar. DO NOT DO THAT. Use white vinegar (the clear kind). Otherwise, you'll just have a nasty yellow stain to try and remove again.
This is what the carpet looks like, all over.
Can you give me other recipes for this if I'm not sure I have baking soda?
I will always be respectful and appreciate any help or tips that we can share
