Introduction: Your IDEAL DIY Powerbank

About: A very very very very very Young Maker......

Hi, today I'm going to share my idea which is absent from the commercial market - An Ideal Powerbank! It's my personalized powerbank, which added some features, and forms a new ultimate powerbank. Thanks to EasyEDA for offering an easy-use circuit designing software, I successfully designed a PCB for this project on EasyEDA.

Please consult an expert for safety purpose, if you want to build this project (hardware).

Supplies

Since it's just a design on software, so what you need is EasyEDA software.

Step 1: Battery Management System

It is important to make sure everything is done safely. So, I added a BMS circuit into my Powerbank.

Components:

2x LM317

1x USB Micro Female (for charging)

1x USB A Female (for loading)

1x Header/Pin (for battery connection)

1x 3.3k Resistor

1x 1.39k Resistor

1x 330R Resistor

1x 2R 1W Resistor

2x 100uf Capacitor

2x 20k Resistor

2x 1k Resistor

4x 1N4007

2x LED (for monitoring charging status)

1x BD140

1x TL431

1x Potentiometer

1x Switch

Step 2: Battery Level Indicator

It's time to add a battery level indicator to monitor the battery level. For this system, I'm using 4 diodes and 4 LED, as well as 4 resistor.

Step 3: Voltage Boosting System

Most powerbank doesn't have built-in voltage boosting system. For this project, I'm using MT3608 voltage boosting module. You may add a switch for selecting boost or no boost.

Component:

1x MT3608

1x 22uH Inductor

1x SS34 Diode

1x 2.2k Resistor

2x 22uf Capacitor

1x 10k Potentiometer

1x Switch

Step 4: PCB

After finish sketching the schematic, save the file, and go to Design tab, choose Convert Schematic into PCB. Arrange the components and start wiring. If you are lazy to do that, just go to Route tab, choose Auto Route.

I set my board outline to 18mm * 65mm, which is the size of 18650 battery, to make it smaller.

Step 5: Conclusion

Now the PCB is ready. You may proceed to JLCPCB to order your custom PCB, by clicking Generate PCB Fabrication File(Gerber) in File tab.

So in conclusion, this powerbank have a battery management system, battery level indicator and a voltage boosting system. Besides, this powerbank is smaller and cheaper than those exist in commercial market.

Thanks!
