Step 4: Crochet the Sheet Body

Chain 96, single crochet in the second chain from the hook

Also single crochet in each chain across then chain 1 and turn.

Continue single crocheting in each single crochet.

Do this until you have 75 rows of single crochets.

Do not finish off, single crochet all around the edges of the outside, (to give a cleaner look)

when you reach where you started slip stitch join and finish off.

Weave your ends into the piece.

Step 5: Make the Pumpkin for the Tip of Zero's Nose

R8: Single crochet 1, single crochet 2 together (12sc)

R9: Single crochet 1, single crochet 2 together (8sc)

Finish off without closing leave a long tail to sew to the rest of the nose.

Step 6: Make Zero's Collar

Slip Knot, Chain 5, Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, single crochet to end (4sc)

Chain 1, turn, Single crochet 4

Single crochet in each single crochet, ch1 turn continue until you have about 51 or 52 rows of single crochets

Single crochet around the edge of the piece to give a cleaner edge

Slip stitch the two ends together and finish off leaving a long tail to sew to head later.

Step 7: Connecting the Nose Pieces

Measure out a length of wire to put in the cone of the nose leave it a bit long so it will connect into the face

Stick it into the nose

Take the pumpkin you made and put it over the cone tip, line the edge up with the front loops you didn't use on the tip of the nose. Sew the pumpkin onto those loops until the pumpkin is completely attached to the tip of the nose.

Take fiberfill/polyfill and stuff the nose.

Step 8: Attach Collar to Head

Take the collar and set it on the head where you want to sew it together.

Use the red yarn tail and sew the collar to the head. I use a whip stitch but you can use whatever you're comfortable with.

Step 9: Attach Collar to Sheet Body

Cut a length of red yarn and thread it into the yarn needle.

Take the head that is now sewn to the collar and put the sheet where you want to attach it.

I pushed the sheet up into the space inside the collar and then sewed it together so it would have a kind of ruffly look. I used a simple up and down stitch to sew the pieces together.

Step 10: Attach the Nose to the Head

Use the yarn tail on your cone nose and set the nose where you want to attach it to the head, push the ends of the wire into the front of the head. This is so you can shape the nose to point upward like Zero's.

I used a whip stitch to sew the pieces together.

Step 11: Attach Zero's Ears to His Head

Cut lengths of wire to fit inside the ears while extra hangs out the end. You need the extra length so you can push it into the head to stabilize the ears weight.

Put the wire in the ears as best you can, put one ear in the position you want it in and sew it on the head using the long tail left on it.

Do the same thing with the other ear. I used the whip stitch again for this step.

Adjust the wires so that you can give the ears a more flowy shape like they are blowing in the wind.

Step 12: Make Zero's Eyes and Attach Them

Create two eyes

Slip stitch, chain 6, Single crochet 3 times in the 2nd chain from the hook,

single crochet in the next 3 chains, 3 single crochets in the next chain and single crochet 3 times until you come up to your beginning crochet, slip stitch join turn

single crochet in the next 4 stitches, slip stitch in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 6 or 7 stitches until you get to your beginning single crochet, slip stitch, finish off leaving a long tail.

When your eyes are done use a whip stitch and sew them onto your head to create Zero's look.

Step 13: DONE!!!

You are done... unless you want to add some shape to Zeros body. In that case take your leftover wire and feed it up his back up to his collar (in two places) and push the ends of the wire into his head. This can help give him less of a just hanging look and more of a shaped look.

The other thing I did was take a strand of yarn and put it through the top of Zero's head so that I could hang him up as a decoration.

(One last thing you can do to make him more authentic is to create a Jack-O-Lantern face on his pumpkin nose and add a small stem on top. I'm not so sure if it does have a stem.)

TADA YOU ARE FINISHED!!
