Zip2 Independent Dual Barrel Pump-Action Knex Gun Preveiw
Intro: Zip2 Independent Dual Barrel Pump-Action Knex Gun Preveiw
Yes, it is here, Zip2 has arrived!! I'm also happy announce to gun engagement outside the shooting range. That's right Zip recently proposed to Competitor so, this is their direct offspring of the newly weds Zip2.
Since Zip is now a married man (or woman?) with competitor, Zip2 has zero broken pieces. Zip2 features dual barrel design held snugly between two layers. Each barrel has it's own firing mech and trigger, so there is a little learning curve to shoot this thing. The pump is directly related to the design on Zip, smooth and effortless with one #64 on each barrel. The part I love most about Zip2 is the concept (thanks to a question I received about Competitor AR) shooting twice per pump is extremely beneficial. Why? Because this allows a higher rate of fire. It also gives you a "failsafe" so if one barrel jams you can still go on warring. I originally designed this gun to be an outdoor war gun and unfortunately my aim was a little high. As you can see I built this to handle more power than Zip, but I forgot to account for the rod that connects the pump to the device that pulls back the ramrods....{palm to forehead} Anyway, to say the least I am extremely pleased with how this turned out. I really took my time to prototype and then single it down to a final design. This gun will dominate the indoor battlefield and will be a prize of my arsenal for months to come.....
Stats
Pros
30ft range with one #64 rubberband
great rate of fire
smooth pump action
solid construction
easy to load and use
comfortable stock
triggers are solid
Cons
pump ramrod connection weaker than prefered
rarely jams (depends if you're trying to film it....)
three round magazine (so six shots total)

STEP 1: Old Guns
So I have these two lying around still so I was wondering is anyone interested (other than me)? I plan to post these two eventually but you know how my list goes... to many previews, not enough posts. I will start posting soon (mainly because I'm really low on green rods and almost out of yellow connectors) so if you have preference on which gun comes first I'd like to hear about it. Thanks for looking! JonnyBGood

Picture two shows two partially inserted yellow rods. To finish loading, continue to push the yellow rod in until you here a click. Repeat two more times.

First off, doesn't the pump need to be a bit more... "round." Is it very comfortable? To me it looks like it might be hard to pump.
Secondly, when you pump the pins, how sturdy is the rod-connecter-rod connection between the pump and mech? It looks like it might need to be thicker/taped.
Lastly, where is the mag? How many rounds can Zip2 hold?

Alright now for your questions:
The pump is comfortable for me, it may be a bit "spiky" with the pertruding blue rod reinforcements but overall you don't notice it to much. I think the pump feels just fine as is.
Ah yes, the pump and mech connection. If you read my long paragraph I admit that is the only flaw with my design. It can handle two #64's (one on each ramrod) but other than that it can't do much more strain. I plan to improve that part eventually... One rubberband is giving about 20 to 30 feet of range, so I'm pretty content with that(for now)
Lastly the mag is styled similar to Zip, so a nonremovable hopper. Yes, it is suckish, but it keeps the width from getting out of hand and gravity is a very effective pusher.
How many rounds? I did state in my cons that it only hold three (or six counting two barrels)
Any other questions?
Please check out the video I just added, it may answer anymore questions you may have.
