Introduction: A James Bond's Wallet (with Digicam Inside)
This is an upgradable wallet for spies. This basic version includes, a large pocket for papers and bucks, some rooms for cards, a secret pocket for secret items, and above all, a tiny hidden digital camera to furtively make secret photos.
It has no pocket for coins because real spies don't want to make sounds when they are spying, but if fake spies want one or need some more frames, it's possible to "upgrade" it.
The prenium version even has a white LED flashlight, a red laser pointer and a tiny emergency swiss-knife.
Step 1: What Do You Need ?
Items :
- a tiny pencam (or a cheap tiny digitalcam for kids).
- two AAA batteries
- some electrical wires
- a support for two AAA (where to plug your batteries and with two pins where to solder your wires)
- a large adhesive tape (color and texture of your choice)
- stiff cardboards
- flexible cardboards
Tools :
- a soldering iron
- clippers
- cutter
- ruler
- pencil
Step 2: The Digital Camera :
Here is how was my old pencam.
The chipset is a STV0680-B.
This device can take up to 100 pictures at 320x240 pixels. It has an USB connexion.
There still should be some cheap pencam available in the market, or some cheap digitalcamera for kids ...
You open it and you remove the circuit.
Step 3: The Main Structure of Your Wallet
You'll need two rectangle of a stiff cardboard.
Mine are 13 x 9 centimeters.
Step 4: Place Your Cam
When you select the position of your camera, think about how you'll use it.
- pressing the button to take picture must be easy
- your fingers must not hide the sensor
- connecting the USB cable must be easy
- when you'll secretly take secret pictures, you must seem obviously natural
- the wallet must not be just a digital camera, but also a wallet !
Mine is designed to take pictures when i open it and look into it.
The sensor is on the back side of the wallet.
I handle it with the right hand, i open it on the left side, i look inside using my left hand, and i press the button with the index of my right hand.
And if i definively want to be sure that i don't seem to take photo, i can even dance with my two feet who remain free, and sing and smile with my wide mouth full of white teeth ...
Step 5: Like an Open Book
When you'll be connecting the two rectangles of stiff cardboard with the tape adhesive, keep a certain distance between them so there will be ennough place into your wallet for all of the things you want to put inside.
Step 6: The Main Room
We're now going to build the main room where you'll put bucks and papers.
In my version (and like most wallet), this main room is shared on both side of the wallet. But also, it shares space with the digital camera.
It's made with the flexible carboard. The rectangle is silghtly less large than the wallet. On mine, the difference is about 1 cm.
Keep in mind that it must be pliable.
To improve it's flexibility, i choosed to remove the part that is folded and to replace it with adhesive tape.
Step 7: Skin and Mount the Main Room
Your goal is now to mount this main room.
You cover the inside of it with some adhesive tape.
To avoid that your paper stick to the left and right inside edge of this large pocket, you add a folded band adhesive tape to stick the edges of the pocket from its inside ...
Step 8: Cards Rooms
For the cards rooms, you'll need several rectangles of flexible cardboard.
Mine are 10 x 4.5 cm.
With 3 rectangles, you'll get 2 rooms.
With 4 rectangles, you'll get 3 rooms.
It's not required to completly cover the rectangles with adhesive tape. If i choosed to do so, it's because i've found that it was easier to insert and remove the cards.
Step 9: Mounting the Cards Bay and the Secret Pocket
We will use the cards bay to make the secret pocket.
Once you covered the front and back sides of your cards bay, you attach it at the bottom of the left side of your wallet.
Then, you start to build the pocket. The entry of the pocket will be near the inside middle edge of your wallet.
Since it's a pocket, it must be flexible ennough so you can easily insert your fingers inside without breaking it.
Once you formed your pocket, you cover it correclty ... and you try it if you want.
Step 10: Camera and Batteries
We're now going to fix the digital camera circuit and the batteries.
You solder your wires to the digital camera circuit.
Then, you fasten the camera to the wallet with the adhesive tape, and you select the where you'll put the batteries ...
Since it must be possible to change the batteries, i choosed to put them into the large pocket (the one for bucks and papers), just at the left of the camera because there is ennough place ...
If you want, you can make a room just for them, just below the camera ...
Step 11: You Cover It ... Et Voila ! C'est Fini ! Bon Appetit !
As i said in the introduction, it's possible to upgrade it easily. You just have to add a central frame or several layers into the main rooms to store more documents.
And if you're like James Bond (i mean, a great seducer), don't forget to hide a secret "weapon" into the secret pocket of your secret agent wallet ... that may save your life !

Sigh; "text talk" has it's place when a limit amount of characters are allowed. However that's not the case with instructables comments. Perhaps a cell phone camera could be used, but think the kind used here would be the easiest to use.

I wonder what happened to that worthless key chain digital camera I waste 10 bucks on? Fun looking project, but I don't know where I'd use a hidden camera. I have ideas, but getting caught would mean there would be nothing left of me after they stomped the BS out of me. A 3 V. button cell may make a good substitute for the 2 AAA

During WWII, the FreeFrench Forces had mini knive sheathes that they kept concealed under their sleeve.If you could find one, you might could fit it into the secret compartment.
