Introduction: Blowgun and Darts

In this instructable i will show you how to make a very powerful blowgun and amazing darts. Although i can't take full credit for the darts design and idea. The original idea and design was from user "cando" and his instructable "https://www.instructables.com/id/Professional-Blowgun-and-Dart---Pierce-12-Plywoo/". check it out its great. So props to him for the idea. And  people please be nice this is my first instructable. constructive critisism is ok though. as long as it's nice. and sorry about the bad camera quality, its the only working camera in my house. :)

Step 1: Tools and Supplies

below is a picture of the needed tools and supplies for the darts and gun. It may seem like a lot but half of it is optional or is only used for a small part of it.

Step 2: Preparing the Materials/supplies

now i will show you how to prepare the materials for the dart and gun. First you need to cut the wire. I usually cut the angled sides on top. Thats where it is least bent and mis-shaped. but u can cut the bottom if its not to bent up. Next you will need to make i extreamly tight cone from the paper. you should have a peice of scotch tape on a table so you can get it. try to give it a good balence between length and width. if not. its not terrible. the important thing is that the smaller hole is the size of a pin. really. it takes practice but you will get it.

Now for the dart, you need the hammer and hard surface now(or anvil like me) take the wire you cut and start pounding it with the hammer on the concrete or anvil. your should end up with a flat, beaten down(literally, beaten down with a hammer) end. pretty thin. from what i have heard coat hangers are mde from scrap steel or some metal. But cold forging actually hardens it so it may be hard to cut when you are cutting the arrow shape into it.

Step 3: Making the Dart

now you can start sharpening the dart. you can do this after you put on the paper cone or not. Thats in the next step so it doesnt make a difference.
Now for the dar,t you need the hammer and hard surface now(or anvil like me) take the wire you cut and start pounding it with the hammer on the concrete or anvil. your should end up with a flat, beaten down(literally, beaten down with a hammer) end. pretty thin. from what i have heard coat hangers are mde from scrap steel or some metal. But cold forging actually hardens it so it may be hard to cut when you are making it a arrow shape. i sharpened a chisel and hit it with a hammer. not very advanced but it works. the longer the cut point the flimsier it will be. a short cut wont bend as easy.
After that you cut the point from the paper cone so its a little smaller than the wire. Put the wire dart into it so that say... 1/2 inch of it is inside the cone. make sure it isn't so long that you cant cut it for the barrel.put a quick peice of duct tape on the out side to hold it togather. now u can go tape happy so the dart doesnt move when you are finishing it. now put it in the pvc pipe and cut it so that it slides smoothly but doesnt fall out if you hit the pipe. To finish the dart you take the cottenballs from earlier and push them ins so that it snuggley fit around the wire that sticks out. push it in with the scewers to make it tight. put a squre of tape over it so it won't come out. and that fixes the problem of a wobbley dart. works like a charm. that idea was actually mine.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

so the darts are finished and those are the only thing you have to do. you can paint your gun if you want to. NEVER AIM THE GUN AT PEOPLE OR ANIMALS THE DARTS CAN KILL. unless you are hunting for animals.still be careful.use at your own risk. luckily the length of the darts and since they are home made, if u suck in with a dart loaded, air will come past them and the darts won't move. but the design of the cone allows air to move forward more. the cotten balls help capture the air to. And as always, shoot safe, have fun, and subscribe.
here is a vid of it shooting

hmmm, what were you pounding them on. try using something steel if you werent, if you have a vice more of them have a small flat piece that works perfect. also try using a BIG hammer and really getting pissed at them. you just gotta get mad and keep pounding.
