Video projection on glass?

Hi I was doing some resources on how to achieve a rear projection on transparent surfaces like glass, but without of much success (there are projects on this site, but all are using a black projection material). I would like to do it on a shop window using a projector. I have found out that I need some special foil to get this working, but most of them are black and not transparen and there are a lots of brands. I am wondering if there would be a DIY solution, maybe a frosted white sticker cut to the size would work, to still keep a level of transparency on of the window. Suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!

FIXED: Power Mac G4 1.25 Duel Mac OS X 10.5.8 Freezing after 6 Minutes!

A couple of days ago I ran across the problem that my mac would have a high CPU usage and kernel panic or freeze after about 6 minutes.  First I plan the put the hard drive in my PC and back up all of the data, as I have important stuff on it.  The high CPU usage was caused by a process call mds, and mdworker.  Both for the PowerPC Architecture, because it is a G4 PowerPC Processor.  The computer is maxed out at 2 GB. of RAM.  The fans sound like a jet engine on boot up, but then ramp down one the desktop is loaded.  Please help! Noobariffic LED art question (Batteries)

Uhh, hi everyone. I have a super basic question, and I'm going to appeal for help because I'm running low on time for this project. I have a signpost I want to light up with about 100 3volt LEDs. What kind of power source should I be looking at? Would 4 AA batteries suffice? I've seen online calculators for determining resistors, but not for an ideal power source. Do I just wire up as many batteries as I want and get the proper resistors? I'd like this thing to light for at least eight hours on a full charge, so I can swap batteries daily. Thank you in advance! I'm dumb!

Quick SMD question

I am just getting into SMD work for PCB's & I was curious when I am using the electric skillet method for solder reflow does the PCB have to sit on the skillet itself or can it slowly pass over & the heat that is coming up from the skillet still cause the solder to flow like it would sitting on top.

Electronics dummy needs your input please

Hi, I want to run a battery operated item that takes its power directly from my 50cc mopeds 12v 4ah battery.  The item takes a minimum of 60w and can take upto 100w which I'm told, could drain the mopeds battery too much even when the engine is running at full speed charging the battery. Can I connect an adustable 6-24v step up inverter to the main bikes battery and use it to install and charge a second 12v bike battery purley to power the 60w to 100w electrical item while its in use, saving my main bikes battery to besure it won't run out of enough power to start the moped after Ive finnished using the electrical item? Im sorry but I not good at electonics and need your input to help guide me to run the item from my 50cc scooter/moped.

Sorting Machine

I am wanting to make a sorting machine for my autistic son, so he can learn how to tell different materials from each other & also different colors from each other.  I know that there are a few things that I want in it & also a few things that I am sure that I will need but I need a little assistance on how to go about it. I know that it will need a load sensor for the weight detection, & light sensors for detecting the color (I'm not too sure that is what I'll need), & I am not sure how to make it detect the materials though.   To give a small overview of how I want it to work is that he will place the colored block (he has some that are foam, some are wood, & some plastic ones) or a toy car (die cast) & he will drop them into a hopper that has a conveyor belt that will drop the toy onto a lever that will slide the toy onto a scale w/ a sensor to tell the color (or stripes) on the toy & also it will then be swept to the next station where it will tell the material the toy is made of & then drop it in the proper hopper.  I would also like indicator lights to show where things are going to show him what's going on if he'd like to watch. Can I get some help on this please.

Can I use a dpdt center off?

I recently tried out this project https://www.instructables.com/id/Fuzz-Pedal/#step1 Now I dont have any idea how to read a schematic, but looking at the various photos, and a diagram that someone posted, I did a pretty good job of putting it together. I didn't realize that I had bought a dpdt center off switch until the the store I bought it from closed.  So, I wired the center off switch just like the regular dpdt switch is wired in this diagram. https://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FKF/N7Y6/GQYG65RC/FKFN7Y6GQYG65RC.LARGE.jpg Im guessing that I need to wire it differently, because Im getting unexpected results. Any advice would be golden, thanks a lot.

How to control Stepper Motor with Integrated Controller, with Arduino

I salvaged a few big stepper motors from a large Laser printer. Unfortunately they all have integrated controller boards. I would like to control them with an arduino. I am aware that an option is to remove the PCB then use a regular contoller. I would prefer to use the integrated board. The boards have the following inputs: 24V GND P/S LD CLK +5 GND The high and low voltage and ground are obvious. CLK is the clock speed (which I half understand). LD is Load?? P/S is pulse?? The board has an SLA6024 with a nice heatsink. (perhaps that helps. I am after a wiring diagram and arduino sketch to control the motor for a CNC machine. Your help is appreciated. Attached are a few images.

HV capacitor bank charge indicator?

Hello! I have a capacitor bank with three 330v capacitors (from disposable cameras, of course... those things are awesome) connected in parallel, but I'm planning to add more. I'd like to indicate when the device has been charged using an LED, but I'm pretty sure that most LEDs can't handle 330v. The disposable cameras often have indicator lights, so how do they do it, and how can I implement it with more capacitors?

PCB Trace Width Questions

Hello instructioners, So i am working on a PCB to use my XBOX 360 power supply as a standard 12volt 16 amp without hacking it apart. I've taken the female plug from a dead Xbox and I've recreated the layout in ExpressPCB. my only issue is being that its 16 amps @ 12volts is the trace widths to hold that much power are ridiculously wide we are talking 7mm or there abouts. I used several different online calculators to determine trace width.  My question is..  how small can i get away with for traces and still get 16amps.. is there a way of bridging the front and back side of a 2side PCB to allow for more amperage on smaller traces? i am really at a loss here. since my PCB is set at 38mm by 38mm and the connector size is 27mm long by 23mm wide. with 7mm wide traces i can't connect all the power pins together and all the ground pins together and route them out. Now i realize the 16amps is max draw but i'd like to plan for a max draw situation that way i feel confident enough to not have to check it all the time to make sure its not melting. Below is an image of the current board in Express PCB the labeled Thru-hole are connections i will need to make for this all to work. the other remaining holes are for mounting the female jack securely. The three yellow boxed connections are 12v+ The three greyed boxed connections are gnd ENG is bridged to +5 to make the XBOX PSU provide 12v

Hardware/software for indoor digital signage?

Hi, What I would like to build is a digital signage kiosk. I am using a 32" LCD display and wood for the housing but I can't figure out in which direction to go regarding the hardware/software which would breath life in this stuff. Room is not a problem inside the housing, so I could go mini or a normal pc, x64 or ARM. The interface would be rendered in HTML (+java script for animation), which would contain some short (1-2 minute) video clips, but overall the requirements are not that big. So here comes the software decision: windows or android??? Android with smaller lighter (energy saving) hardware or the ARM powered Raspberry Pi is tempting, but maybe in the future I would incorporate touch capabilities which may need a more sophisticated hardware...I am confused, which way to go???? Using a mounted drill to power axle mounted device

Hi, I have just constructed a chicken plucker as in the photo. As an initial attempt the device worked really well - except for the connection of the drill to the axle. This was not well aligned so it ate the threaded bar which was trying to pull itself out and not helped with the thread direction. Are there examples of how to better power such a device?  I would like to be able to re-use my drill, I suspect properly aligned would work better. I could also swap to a non threaded bar but would need suggestions on how to keep the plucker barrel in place. Cheers

trying to feed video into a 3.55 mm port on car dvd

My car dvd player has twoscreens. One DVD player feeds the other screen when you select either one to act as an A/V in. It accepts the video feed sent from one player to the next via a 3.55 male to male cable. I had this idea that if the one screen receives a video signal from the other player than I could bypass the DVD sending the signal and send a video signal from another device (my iphone 4) using the same method. I bought a Iphone 4 to rca audio and video cable to run the video feed out of the phone. THEN in theory I thought that an RCA to 3.55 male converter would allow me to run the video line out of the iphone into the DVD players screen. I would have to sacrfice one audio line (left or right, didn't matter) to plug the video into it BUT I thought in theory this wouldn't matter as audio/ video RCA seems to send video feed just fine. NOW, I have it all in place but it doesn't work. Any ideas how I can make this 3.55 female line in on the DVD screen get a video signal from an iphone?  Thanks for any advice here.

Epilog and Pocket sized electronics challenges

Hi, I would like to submit an instructable to the Epilog and Pocket sized electronics challenges. It is a spark/electric arc generator, which has many uses such as using it as a spark gap radio transmitter, igniting flammable gasses or liquids (camping stoves), or using the high voltage to charge capacitors. The circuit is based on that of a DIY stun gun, so the project could be used as a stun gun. In the rules it says the project can't be 'potentially dangerous'. So would this project be disqualified from the challenges for being too dangerous? I would of course warn people not to use it as a stun gun in the instructable.   Thanks in advance :) Detective Inspector Me
