Does anyone know how to fix the battery connector on the motherboard of an Ipod? Trying to fix a 6th GEN. 80GB IPod.

The 6pins that connect the board to the battery flex cable broke off. I have all 6 pins but not sure how to put them back on the board. I know I will probably have to sauder it but if anyone has done it and had success at it please let me know. Ipod works without battery if it is plugged into the wall charger and if you hook up external speakers it works, but there is no memory resume since there is no battery and I can't transfer my stuff off the harddrive onto my pc. I really need it to connect so that I can get my stuff off the drive. If you have any ideas to help me out or if you have done the 6pin deal please let me know. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks Everyone!!! :-)

WS2812b strip stopped working, what could be the possible cause? Answered

Hi, I'm using a 1m ws2812b (30 led/m) strip for my ambilight setup with adrilight, using an arduino mega. I cut the 1m strip into 5 smaller strips  ['data direction as per this description':  (5+5 leds in bottom) -> 5 leds at the left side -> 10 leds at the top -> 5 leds at the right side) ] and soldered them together, rechecked everything and installed it on my monitor. I'm powering it with a 5v 2a power supply and everything was working good for 3 days. Suddenly, the strip stopped responding to any data input from the arduino. Only the 6th led of the 2nd strip at the bottom lights up with 'green' colour as soon as I turn on the power adapter.  I tried using Adafruit neopixel rgb strand test as well as fastled library's sample codes but none work any longer(they were working perfectly prior to this sudden failure). It's as if the strip doesn't care that the arduino is connected. The single led (6th one as per data line & 1st one as per divided section, on the 2nd strip) works when connected to the power adapter and lights on/off as per the power adapter's state. None of the other leds work or even light up. What could be the possible problems of the sudden strip failure? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Ipod Classic is frozen on "Do Not Disconnect" screen

My 120 gb ipod classic 6th generation goes on but goes straight to the "okay to disconnect" screen even when its not plugged in. I cant get it to do any more than that. I tried resetting it by sliding hold/unhold button and then holding both the menu button and middle button at the same time until the apple appears but then soon after it goes right back to the "okay to Disconnect" screen. itunes wont even detect it. My computer detects it for a second bbut then it disapears. i put my ear to it to see if its spinning and im hearing a faint clicking sound. Is it a goner?

Sorry to seem so dramatic but this is probably the 6th time I post on a forum (instructables, adafruit makezine, element14, etc) and havnt found any answers. My TPA6021A4 amplifier I made has alot of distortion that goes away when i touch the positive terminal of the audio input with my finger. the weird thing is, every single (5) audio amplifier ive tried to make so far has had the same problem. the reason I am using the TPA6021A4 chip is because I emailed Ben Heck and that is what he suggested I use, but I cant get it to work. I am making them on breadboards mabey thats the problem? please help.

Looking for safe "recipie" to create a scratch card for messages that people can uncover by scratching cards with a coin Answered

I would like to learn how to make some sort of ointment to put on cards that will not scratch too easily, yet that will let itself be taken off with the help of a coin or any other sharp-edged objects. The possibility of changing the colour of the ointment would be great as i would like to include the cards as part of an art project which be very colourful. The ointment should apply smoothly on the card to avoid bloaches and bubbling, should have a good shelf-life and be completely safe in the hands of artists and "scratchers" alike. The art piece is going in an art exhibition on September 6th, 2009 so it would be great if I had the recipie beforehand to create the cards. Many thanks to all who are interested in looking into this ;) Mariounette

Idea for "Useless Box"... not sure how to build or what I'll need.

So I got this as a gift from a friend on my birthday. I assembled it, and its great I love it. You can check it out here: It always brings a smile to peoples faces on around the 3rd try to turn it on lol...  I know NOTHING about electronics what so ever just so you know, you're going to have to reply like you're talking to a second grader.  That being said, here's my idea... I want an LED scroll bar (like the kind that has text with a message you read as it goes across... similar to ones you would see in an airport, just tiny) with a script. Every time you hit the button on, it turns itself off, along with flashing a message. Do it again, another message. Etc... But I want the messages to go in some sort of order... I was thinking the script could look like this: 1st Click: "You just couldn't keep your hands off, could you?" 2nd: "Much more amusing the second time, right?" 3rd: "Ok, now you know what I do... now stop." 4th: "Please... Keep your hands off." 5th: "It's starting to hurt..." 6th: etc etc etc.... for something crazy, like 100 messages... No idea of what I need to do or how to go about it. Any guidance is welcome!! Thanks!!!!
