Here the problem is that the motor rotate the back wheel of bicycle(28")easily without any load but when the load applied it runs only 1(one) k.m after that it runs nearly zero (torque produced only 10%)i checked the battery voltage it shows 11.8&11.9volts . i have done this 5 times but stil the results are same.checked the motor, chain, throttle.my weight is 50 Kg.Will you help me? bala

I've been looking around for an affordable e-book reader but they all seem to be north of $200. While at the store the other day I passed some digital picture frames that were under $100 that were the right size and shape. The digital picture frame looks like it has all the hardware you'd need: lcd screen, media port, etc, problem is getting them to read pdf files and the like. I thought about finding a way to convert pdf files to jpeg files but that seems like a hassle to do every time I want to read something. Has anyone out there attempted to hack one of those digital frames so that it reads more than just image files?

After all this time of not getting notifications I just got a flood of all the past ones, its pretty funny like a major cork finally letting go. So check to see if your emails have received something along the line of "you have 120 new comments" A big thank you to those who have been puzzling through this latest glitch. Here's hoping that this one is resolved for good.

I want to build a project that could really benefit from epaper. Is there a source for e-ink displays and driver chips? This is a relativley new technology and I couldn't find much short of thousands of dollars. BTW, I'm proficient at electronics, so it's not like I'm looking for some kit to hook up to my arduino or anything :P I'm looking for the raw stuff.

E-waste collectors in countries like Ghana collect cables and then burn them to get rid of the plastic and then sell the copper. This process is not environmental friendly and harms their health. I'm working on a project to find better ways to treat imported e-waste. Is there a better way to strip cables that would not imply burning, and that would respect the worker's health? Thanks!

I saw this clock design the other day. It was a circle with the clock hands in the middle and unattacked to the clock there were dots around it to mark the hours. I want to improve this design by making the hour dots light up on their respective time for the whole hour. Maybe make them have a nice dimming transicion between the hour switch at the last second. I don't know much about programming L.E.D.s or what hardware I would need. Can somebody help me how to make this project?

I have a working 555 flasher circuit: http://www.555-timer-circuits.com/flashing-led.html - i have added a switch between the + and the board, and replaced the R2 with a variable. Works great! Now i would like to add a "delay-off" function, if thats what it is called, so a single activation gives 10 seconds of flashing. So, any advice? PS: I have pnp & npn's, resistors etc, but no relay's. Thanks fella's!

A friend writes:If anyone is interested in hacking the E-Ink version of the October issue of Esquire, here's some info. First, it's not available everywhere, but just in major stores like Borders and Barnes & Nobel. I got one at the Emeryville Borders. They have a display rack full of them. After removing the paper, tape, printed plastic and foam padding, here's what's left: (see pic)The PCB has 6 (!) 3V lithium batteries. It looks like one poweres the control electronics and the other five give 15 volts to run the displays. There's a PIC12F629 and some pads for in-circuit programming. There's also a couple of 4094 8 bit shift registers. There are two E-Ink display panels, but they're not general-purpose dot matrix. They have a small number of pre-patterned regions that can be made black or white. If you disconnect a panel from the circuit, the panel remains in its last state. It might be possible to open up a panel and put a different pattern underneath it (say, with a PCB). Might be fun.The PCB could be useful even without the E-Ink displays. You could connect a bunch of LEDs to it and reprogram the PIC. Not bad for $5.99 plus tax.I did later tear open one of the two display panels. You can remove the aluminum backing to reveal the connections printed in cunductive paint on the back of a pattern in conductive plastic. Trying to peel the conductive plastic away from the E-Ink active layer destroys the display, and releasing a tiny amount of E-Ink dust.It does look like one could cut the display into small pieces to possibly make small separate indicators. You'd need to retain the edge that connects to the clear conductive plastic on the front of the display.

I was just browsing the information on e-cigarettes when the thought hit me. Here we have a small electronically controlled atomizer, what better use can we use it for. One of the first ideas came up was to use it as a fuel injector for small model airplanes. Anyone have any ideas or remarks? Btw theres plenty of companies wanting to give them away because it creates a "bond" where you need to buy the refills from them. Little do they know that I like to re purpose "free" things

Recently received a $150.00 gift certificate from instructables and was initially looking for a e-book type reader. Soon discovered some offer video as well, oooh video. Of course none of these are of the e-paper type and are all lcd type displays so battery life wouldn't be great. Can anyone recommend a tablet that works well as an e-book and also streams video as well. 3g is of no importance as it is not supported in my geographical neck of the woods. WIFI is required though. In addition I am really trying to use just the 150$ for the item, I'll pay extra for the shipping.

I have lots of spare time but I don't have any money to afford small scale servo motors. I'm thinking to build a robot hand similar to the human hand without using servo motors. Objectives of the hand : -Should be able to handle it's own weight -Should be able to grab small weights 1grams to 5grams. I'm planning to make the hand using only e-waste and this is the second reason I'm not using servo motors. (I'm from south Asia, there for it's hard to find servo motors in the e-waste.) Can someone give me an advice or can someone tell me is it possible to make a robot hand without using any servo motors?

I recently acquired a G.E. 40,000 volt capacitor and initially it was fine but it has started making loud popping sounds inside while charging and discharging. It sounds like there might be arcing inside but it still holds a charge just fine which is quite strange. The sound always comes from the same exact spot and the capacitance has decreased from 1.88 uf to 1.5 uf. I'm wondering if inside the cap there is several smaller ones and maybe a connection came loose during shipping but I really don't want to pull it apart because it's welded shut. Any advice on what I should do would be helpful :) Thank in advance!

I am thinking about taking my computer (Macbook) apart and modding it, and putting something on the apple on the back. I thought it would be really cool to have a small e-ink panel (low power) where the apple is to have as a clock or something. Anyone know of such a panel in color? I could just use a small LCD but E-ink has way better power advantages so I would consider that first.

I work for a non-profit in Mexico. We have a remote station with an antenna and computer equipment that I need to secure from people messing with the antenna on top (people taking it for metal recycling money is my main concern). I plan on putting a line or two of barbed wire lining the top of the building that houses the computer equipment inside. However, because it's so remote from where we are generally (it's on top of a hill next to us), I need some kind of remote alert system so that I know if the barbed wire has been cut. I saw a garage door monitor instructable using the parallax "Basic Stamp II" that I think I could modify for this purpose, but I figured this has been done before and their is probably a better way to do it. I thought of several ways to detect that the wire was cut, like running a small current through it so that when the circuit is broken, it sends the alert (e-mail or something like that), but I don't know how to implement that. It should be noted that the barbed wire is going to be on top of a 4 ft x 4ft building. There are no gates involved and it is a continuous wire (total 16ft long). I need to have a system that will tell me if any of the four sides gets cut. I've included a basic layout to help visualize what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help everyone. This is an awesome website.
