Hi, I want to get into microcontrollers and stuff. Doo you think that an Arduino is the best way to get into this stuff. I live in the UK and I've been looking at this. I need something that interfaces via USB or serial ( via a usb to serial adater) and this looks ideal. What do you think about these? Are they any good?BTW: Does anyone know a place (other than ebay to get these in the UK?)-josh

Can you help me I have a problem, this program :/*Blink *The basic Arduino example. Turns on an LED on for one second,then off for one second, and so on... We use pin 13 because,depending on your Arduino board, it has either a built-in LEDor a built-in resistor so that you need only an LED. * */int ledPin = 13; // LED connected to digital pin 13void setup() // run once, when the sketch starts{ pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT); // sets the digital pin as output}void loop() // run over and over again{ digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH); // sets the LED on delay(1000); // waits for a second digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW); // sets the LED off delay(1000); // waits for a second}it says that the input pin is 13, ok, but I don't see the output pin, WHERE IS THE OUT PUT PIN???Lets say, I connect the positive(longer ) wire of the LED to pin 13(the input pin), and the negative (shorter) wire to what pin, what output pin???Thanks!

Burn Arduino Bootloader to Arduino, from Arduino

I want to burn the Arduino bootloader to an Arduino from an Arduino. I have an Arduino Duemilanove, and I want to take the chip(ATMega328) off, and use it in a circuit, without having to connect the whole Arduino to the circuit. However, I then have an Arduino with no chip. So, Can I just put a regular ATMega328(I know I can just buy one with the bootloader already on it, but I would rather do itmyself.) into the Arduino, connect it to the computer, and use the Arduino IDE(I'm using 0021- the most up to date one) to burn the bootloader to it? If so, how? If I cant, is there any way to easily do it with only another Arduino with the bootloader on it?

Arduino to arduino via bluetooth?

I want to link three arduino's via bluetooth.  One will listen for the other two.  If it receives signal it will set a pin high.  If it doesn't it will set the pin low. Two of the arduino's will be powered off most of the time.  If they power up I need it to link to the other one. So the two will need to power up, link to the one, and start sending signal. The one is just going to power up a light and maybe later also report to the web. The two are just signal generators to let the one know to turn the light on. If I can't link three, I will buy 4 and just make two pairs. Thanks for any answers.

Arduino Relay?

I'm working on a UPS of sorts for an arduino project of mine. Basically if the pwoer goes out I want the arduino to switch to a 9v battery backup. I was wondering what sort of relay I should use and if a transformer would be needed. Ideally I'd like to use a simple power supply with a transformer built in and then have that feed into the relay, but I'm not sure if the 7-12v from a normal arduino power supply would then be enough to switch the relay (normally closed).

Is Arduino the tool for this?

     Hello, I have a question. I'm currently working on a project where data is transferred via radio at a frequency of 916.5 MHz. I need to receive this data, and then send a new signal containing the data out via Bluetooth. I have programming experience, and know C++ fairly well, but have never used Arduino or other microcontrollers. I have looked around, and could not find an answer anywhere else. Can Arduino do this? If so, could you point me in the direction of the radio receiver that can pick up that frequency and Bluetooth transmitter modules (is this the correct word?) that would work for me, as well as what type of Arduino board you would recommend? Thank you! -S

Arduino help

Hi guys! So, i saw the LED cube experiment and decided that i would try one myself. Although i can definitely say i am a newbie when it comes to microcontrollers, i still would like to try and understand them. I am planning on making a 4*4*4 or 5*5*5 cube, and dump the programs that the various users have submitted.  Now, most of the instructables have not specified which arduino board they used, few have, and those who did, each his own. My questions are: What are the differences between them? I mean, i saw a Due, Fio, Leonardo, Uno, Duemilanove etc etc.  Are they interchangeable?  Secondly, which one is better to use for the cube project? Or all the one and the same? Personally, in my area, Duemilanove is pretty cheap. Third, i would really love to understand the basics of arduino, and also learn to program it. So, if anyone have any good site or tutorial or other resources for a COMPLETE newbie like me, please do point out!  Thanks! :)

Arduino Input

I am writing an Arduino program to read speaker inputs for a test station.  I need only to know when a speaker lead is on or off. This will be done by using the fade and balance.  Originally I was connecting the speaker leads to the analog inputs and could get a single line to work as a simple VU meter. Multiple lines gave issue.  Since I don't need to know the actual level, just whether they are on or off I'd like the speaker lead to trigger a transistor connected to a digital I/O pin on the Arduino.  Any thoughts or quick schematics on how to do this?

Arduino code Answered

Hello, I have been trying to make code for my arduino. I would like code to tell my arduino to receive a servo signal from my rc receiver, then detect whether the signal is telling the esc to move forwards or backwards. If the signal is forwards, it simply relays that code to the ESC. If the signal tells the ESC to go backwards, then it sends a signal to go forwards at the speed it would have gone in reverse, while sending out a power source to power a relay. Chowmix12 came up with some code that may help and I put  "//" before all of the code that was not needed for his application to work. Also, this link may be helpful for multitasking.  #include Servo ThrottleServo; //int PWMpin = 2; // connect RC receiver here. //int ServoVal; //int RCinput; void setup() { //Serial.begin(9600); //ThrottleServo.attach(9); // attaches the servo on pin 9 to the servo object //ThrottleServo.write(97); // go to nuetral pinMode(13, OUTPUT); } void loop() { //RCinput = pulseIn(PWMpin, HIGH, 20000); //ServoVal = map(RCinput, 520, 2370, 0, 180); //if(RCinput== 0) { // Signal timed out! digitalWrite(13, HIGH); // ALERT! ThrottleServo.write(97); // Go to neutral throttle position } //else{ // digitalWrite(13, LOW); // everything's fine. // ThrottleServo.write(ServoVal); // Repeat the data to the truck's ESC // Serial.print(" PulseMicros "); // This part is used to debug the values for calibration // Serial.print(RCinput); //Serial.print(" ServoRead "); // Serial.println(ServoVal); // } //} My program so far is as follows. /* created 2005 by David A. Mellis and chowmix12 modified by Justin Baker */ #include const int relay =  10; Servo ThrottleServo; int ServoVal; int RCinput; int PWMpin=2; int relayState = LOW;       long previousMillis = 0;    long interval = 1000;          void setup() {   pinMode(relay, OUTPUT);  Serial.begin(9600); pinMode(9, OUTPUT);  } void loop() { RCinput = pulseIn(PWMpin, HIGH, 20000); ServoVal = map(RCinput, 520, 2370, 0, 180); if(ServoVal>90) { digitalWrite(9, HIGH); ThrottleServo.write(ServoVal); } else{ ServoVal=180-ServoVal; digitalWrite(9, HIGH); ThrottleServo.write(ServoVal); }   unsigned long currentMillis = millis();   if(currentMillis - previousMillis > interval) {        previousMillis = currentMillis;       if (ServoVal >= 90)       relayState = LOW;     else       relayState = HIGH; //this output will turn a mosfet off, turning the relay off       digitalWrite(relay, relayState);   } }

Broken Arduino? Answered

Few days ago I was making arduino project which involved using power supply with 12v (musical floppies). I had uno connected to my laptop and I was connecting power supply to floppy which arduino was supposed to control, but I plugged wire in wrong socket. Computer  and power supply shut down immediately. I checked later and it appears that I put 12v straight into ground that was also connected to arduino. And later when I tried to upload something on board I got error 0x00 not in sync. 13 led turns on when connected, but board dodn't respond to reset. But it appears on computer so it's not completely fried I think. After some research I bought usbasp programator to try burning new bootloader, but after connecting it always say target doesnt answer. check connections. I did that (didn't checked with multimeter yet) but Im pretty sure its wired correctly. Any ideas? And if not is buying new chip (atmega328-p) going to solve problem?
