BB Gun, shot counter? Answered

I am planning on using an Arduino nano (clone or similar) but am struggling to figure out how I can use a proximity sensor or other method to count shots fired... Am not sure if I could use IR, as don't know if it will detect a break at the velocity the BB's will be getting fired at.. When I get something put together am planning on mounting a nokia 5110/3210 in the butt so is visible, maybe a laser range finder etc.. Any ideas would be much appreciated

How to make a BB gun turret? Answered

Hey guys! Basically, i want to make a kick-ass BB gun turret. I have 2 big guns that look like the M16 (automatic) I want to make a turret that will scan for people/objects and shoot them when i say so (so i don't kill my cat). I have money, skill (I have made my own electric tricycle) and time. I was thinking that a combination of the Mindstorm NXT, a webcam and an RC car would do the trick. Here's some details why i think so: Mindstorm: Detects motion and can turn the turret 360 degrees when i say so. RC car: can pull trigger and also turn the turret 360 degrees Webcam: I wanna be able to film/see the person i shoot. Any thoughts on this? If you know a way that will allow me to exclude the NXT that would be great. Also: I'm 14, i live in China, Servos are harder/impossible to get by, and my parents are supposed to know i'm making this (i'm making this for a "client"...) Edit: Won't be needing the NXT... Still: anyone have any good ideas?

How difficult is it to replace the seals on a pump action BB rifle about 20 yrs old ?

My gram-pa gave it to me at 15 and worked great! Now the air doesn't compress or hold when pumped, grrr. It's a Daisy I think.

Looking for source for valve for home-made airgun/bb gun.

I'm an 11-year-old making a home-made airgun. I can't find the kind of valve I'm looking for. What kind of stores/websites should I be looking at to find valves?

Where can I get a laser and a sensor? (preferably cheap) Answered

I'm looking for a laser that is button activated and a sensor that reacts to the laser. Basicly I want to put the laser in the barrel of a broken bb gun and make the button so that when you pull the trigger the laser goes off. Then I want to make a circle with the sensor in the center and when you hit it  with the laser you hear a sound. Now I am wondering where I can get a laser and a sensor that responds to it. the laser can be visible or invisible I don't really care. Also does the sensor respond to any laserbeam or is this specific? Thanks in advance, Michel

HOW CAN I FIND AIR GUN VELCOCITY FROM WIND SPEED? Answered

I need to know how i can make a extact scienctific calculaion of a air gun velocity based on wind speed, requirements so i can even know the laws and regulations of a exact air gun,bb gun, pellet gun, spring gun,and  airsoft guns #1 it must be extact as science #2 show your equation #3 include inperail units and metric OF BOTH  MUZZLE VECOLITY AND MUZZLE ENERGY while keeping it brief of one of only inperial, one only metric and one with a mixture of both or instead of number 3 you can include with just any unit as of that exact unit type for example kilograms and kilograms force, pounds force and foot pounds, kilogram force to joules be sure it inlcude units of joules, foot pounds, newtons, #4 include the wind speed and what the air gun velcoity of the bullet based on wieght and inlcude the amount per each amount of weight and per each amount of wind speed  I KNOW  IT IS  A BIG ASK HOWVER I NEED TO KNOW THE VELOCITY AND FIREPOWER THEN  I CAN EVEN CHECK THE LAWS

What is the optimum amount of rubbing alcohol for explosions?

I am working on a mini-cannon based project. The cannon has a chamber with interior volume of 15.2 cubic inches. For propellant I am using rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) that is electronically ignited. The barrel on this gun is about 2 feet of 6mm tubing, designed to shoot Airsoft BBs. I was wondering if anyone knows what the ideal amount of rubbing alcohol to use was (I am using 70% alcohol now, but i can get at least 90% at the store). I could also possibly use butane or propane, if that is better. I went on the internet and looked up the stoichiometric ratio for isopropyl alcohol, but that just told me "1mol fuel to 4.5 mol oxygen at 100 percent concentration." I am not mathematically or scientifically capable of turning that bit of info into a usable amount.

Is it possible/can anyone explain how to transmit a USB signal through an "Ethernet over power" system.

OK, so we have seen "Ethernet over power" devices. In my home there is one with the "BT Vision" (its a UK thing). But I was wondering, does the input protocol of the signal in, allow you to send your own signal? I can understand if it can only send discreet digital signals, so analogue is probably out of the question. I'm sure you are all wondering what I mean. Well although my idea is for something completely different, involving a camera, and a mains powered reloading BB gun, I will appeal to the SPY cam enthusiasts, who are often very clever with lots of ingenuity. So you somehow manage to secrete a Spy-cam in somebodies stereo. How do you access the video? well there are 2 ways. one is to store is locally, this is limited by how bigger storage you can afford, and the limit of the device. The ones I know are normally limited at 4GB or so.  The other way is to use my suggested way, locate the AC input of the Stereo, implant the AC part of the "Ethernet over power" onto it, then plug the USB device into the Ethernet part.(probably with some kind of mods). Then at the computer in question, connect the output to your computer, there is bound to be a 5v supply inside the stereo, but if not, there are plenty of 5v regulators available. what does the community think?
