parallel light bulbs? Answered

Is there any way of connecting multiple fluorescent light bulbs *THIS* to 1 power plug....i'm a newb, so if this is pretty complicated, i'm gonna need some articles :) the reason i ask this is because i'm thinking about constructing a (full room) black light in it's own sweet casing. it would go around my whole room around the perimeter (around the upper edge, touching the ceiling) so ya...i have enough construction knowledge to build the casing and everything else, BUT i do not know hardly anything about electrical stuff...which is why i have you guys :) so ya...any help (or different solutions other than light bulbs) would be greatly appreciated. thanks :)

Light Bulb Maximum Output?

I am trying to fix a broken spectrophotometer that is valued at well over a thousand dollars. The problem: looking in the light bulb compartment, it seems the tungsten-halogen lamp is pretty dim. The bulb is rated for 6V. Using a multimeter, it appears to get about 8 volts. Could too much voltage cause the bulb to be dim? If so, How can I lower the voltage to 6? Would a resistor work? Thanks!

DIY Projector bulb problem ?

In reading some of the instructables on DIY projector lamp replacements I decided to give it a shot. So I purchased a Proxima Ultralight LX1 off of ebay, and when it arrived it contained no previous bulb, so I purchased a MR16 style 100 watt halogen bulb and installed it (with a seperate power supply). When I started it up and connected it to my laptop it worked fine for about a minute or so (give or take) but then the image went blank (not the bulb but the LCD screens showed blackness) for five seconds, then the image popped up as nothing had ever happened. I have tried everything to prevent this, other computers, killing the ballast (which is quite easy, only one wire to disconnect) different video sources and no dice. But I do know that it has nothing to do with the light bulb because it is on a completley different power supply and is not connected electronically to the projector in any way, there is something wrong with the controls of the unit Any Help would be appreciated, Thanks Bwpatton1

LED Lamp Buzzing (not a bulb)

About a year ago, I came across this LED lamp that was on sale at my local Target store. It caught my eye because it had a little tray at the base of the lamp along with a USB port for charging my devices. Since the first time I plugged it in and turned it on, it makes a buzzing noise. At first it didn't bother me, but now that I am spending more time at my workbench it has become annoying. I understand it is kind of common for LED bulbs to do this because of the dimmer switch being outdated, however this lamp is not dimmable nor is it a "bulb" so to say. It's about 7-9 SMD LEDs on a circuit with a rocker switch. If it makes a difference, I do have my lamp plugged into a surge protector and don't have anything plugged into the USB port located at the base of the lamp. What can be done (other than throwing it away, of course) to stop the buzzing noise coming from the lamp? Thanks in advance!

How Bright is a 112 Lm/W LED? Answered

Hello, I am on a mission to find a very very bright led preferably in red. I have seen lots of bulbs with ranging prices but don't understand how bright they are. One led I have seen is the Luxeon Rebel LXM5-PD01 which comes in red and is 112 Lm/W, I understand that it means 112 lumens per watt but how bright actually is that? And what would be its power consumption? Thanks

350 Projector bulb power source?

Hey guys I recently salvaged the bulb from and InFocus LP1000B projector. I want to use this bulb as a light source but am not sure how to go about this because I do not know the voltage to run the bulb at or if the power to it needs to be limited somehow. From my research I believe it is a 350 watt Metal Halide bulb. Thanks for any help.

(I am trying to run 3 bulbs in parallel for an instructable... best reply gets put in the credits at the end, but you don't get royalties lol!) any help welcome Will

Hi there I have got a projector and the bulb has gone. I think we can agree they are really expensive and therefore it just becomes infeasible to keep buying new bulbs. so I was just asking whether you know how to replace it with something cheaper and longer lasting. I had the idea of LEDs but I would not know how to do it. thank you Hantly

Projecting outside: colours?

Is there a way to get colours to be more contrasted so that they can be seen more clearly? I want to take this: https://www.instructables.com/id/PROJECTION-BOMBING/ and turn it into this: http://www.gregbernstein.tv/walmartwatch/ Also, is there a way to increase the lumens of a projector by changing the bulb or something? I have a feeling my projector isn't bright enough to project outside. I was thinking of using this: https://www.instructables.com/id/Halogen-Work-Light-Projector-Mod/ Would that be bright enough for outdoors projecting or is there another cheap alternative?

Colored Lights- How do colored led lights work and what do they emit?

I'm doing an experiment by growing plants under colored led lights, so do led lights emit specifically one color. For example does a red led light emit only wavelengths of light that are red and no others. I want to make sure that only one color of light is existent to get accurate results. I hope this makes sense. Also if you know of any 1-colored high watt led lights please link them to me.

How to wire a light to an alarm clock?

Where I work during the summer I consistently have to switch between the day and night shifts. This happens every month or so and during the first week of transition I have a rather hard time waking up especially from transition from day to night shifts where I have to sleep during the day. Thus it is dark when I am supposed to wake up. Although I have not been late yet there have been quite a few "near-misses". Anyway I want to know if anyone can help me wire a light to my alarm clock to help this. My alarm clock alternates between a one second-ish noise to an equal length silence and repeats. I would like it to turn on and off in the same fashion as the alarm clock makes noise. I do not have much electrical know how, but I am adequate at soldering both wires and on boards. I have tested the output of the wires leading to the speakers and they do not have enough power to turn on the bulb. It would also be nice if can be done on a wallet friendly cost, college is eating up most of my money. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Does any one know how to make an Ne-2 joule thief ??

Recently I’ve been researching on how high voltage joule thief works. The popular high voltage joule thief videos out there are known as Jeanna’s light if I’m not mistaken. I also built my own little LED joule thief circuit, it appear success after all with a 2n3904. But I want to take the concept a little bit further, so I decided to attempt on the high voltage joule thief circuit. It appear no luck, I have 120 turns for high voltage on my ferrite core (1 turn = 1 volt). I know it’s the same principle as the LED joule thief but with the LED removed. I have two 1kohm resistors and I connected them in parallel to get 500ohm resistance. I connected them all like the LED joule thief, but it seems like I did something wrong.  So I ask for further instruction. Parts that I use: 40 or 30 gauge magnet wire (high voltage windings) 20 gauge magnet wire 2n3904 transistor (Don’t know if that’s the right transistor for this circuit, but it’s for experimental purposes only.) 2x 1Kohm resistors in parallel = 500 Ohm resistance AA rechargeable battery. The thick magnet wire are 7 turns.

SAD sunrise clock, led bulb mod?

I suffer with SAD and a sunrise clock helps a lot getting up in the mornings and winding down at night. I have one similar to this It uses ses 14 bulbs, currently using halogen 42W but these don't last long and I managed to blow one closing a drawer! So, I'm looking for a way to use 10 to 20W leds  but obviously, given its UK mains voltage that does the timed dimming, finding a suitable LED driver is difficult. There are a few out there but I've no idea which ones will work as it need it to. Also, the only commercially available dimmable led bulbs are e27 fit only, very expensive and only 12W, around 400 lumens. I need at least 600. Also the more the better. Looking to use 6400K or higher colour, as the higher temp colours are proven to be better for SAD. I can make electronic circuits and have hacked together/repaired plenty of stuff. I would rather build something than buy as I don't have £££ to spend! Does anybody have any ideas to help me get started? I'm also looking to replace my SAD bulbs, currently 85W cfls with LEDS as well.
