I have seen somewhere a cut down digital camera rehoused in a wooden box. the thought strikes me- I have several redundant Olympus lenses could I successfully take a point and shoot digital camera, remove the lens, mount the camera body in a box and add my Olympus lenses to the front to make an exchangeable lens digital camera? I realize I would need to get the lens to CCD distance right but that doesn't seem to be all that difficult - I can engineer an adjustable mount if necessary. it seems a pity to have all these lenses and nothing to do with them. Opinions guys?

I was thinking of buying an external Camera for a laptop even though it already has an built in cam. I would like to use the external so that I can point it toward a table surface and use it for animation purposes. I was wondering, would the external interfere with the other? Thank you for your answers. -T.T :)

Well I'm getting a new camera and have come to the choosing part, basically the upper limit is £180 and I'm torn between two but also looking for other suggestions. It's to replace my fuji finepix S5600 that was stolen. my requirements are as so: *Min 10x optical zoom *Needs to have shutter speed adjustment of at least 15 seconds down to 1/2000th of a second *A decent amount of megapixels (6 or more) *Full aperture adjustments would be nice but up to F8.0 is acceptable *Built in flash *Preferably uses standard batteries like AA, unless it's canon, got a load of them already I've already Seen two I like, being most familiar with Fuji and canon drew me towards them. The Finepix S1000FD is the evolution of my older camera and the controls remain the same for the most part, Has 12x zoom which is better and 10 megapixels resolution... The canon SX100 is cheaper and only has 10x zoom, it does do slightly faster shutter speeds but it's a marginal difference, it also includes optical image stabilisation which would be nice, the fuji has no mention of this... Any other suggestions for potential cameras are very welcome, please help me choose between these two or others...

This isn't really a question as such. I have been looking at the news of the various attacks around the world recently and almost 100 % of the CCT camera footage is appalling. WHY? You can buy a 1080P gopro for a couple of hundred pounds. Why are these picture so bad.

I'm new to this sorry. I want to make a wireless contolled camera or some thing that use either the ps1 or n64 controllers. Like if you press X it will take the photo. I want to have a display near or on the controller so it can be viewed with out the camera. As well as a usb cable so it can plug directly into the pc. I know it sounds like a lot too but I have most of the parts.

I have a new Largan Digital Camera. There was no problem in the beginning, taking photos and downloading to the PC. The camera was getting charged and the red light goes on. The digital number of pictures snapped is also displayed. But unable to transfer the pictures to my PC. Checked the USB cable and even changed the USB cable. Downloaded the drivers again, but the problem continues. How to solve this problem? Any Help. Bhasker Raj Freelance writer and Autor India email: firstname.lastname@example.org

I do ALOT of youtube videos, but I also need still good quality still pictures and my camera just died. I have a budget of around $400.00 and need something that takes HD video I would like something that either has an external mic jack or takes good audio, my subscribers complain of a high pitched whistle in my current videos (I cannot hear it) It would also be nice if it could be set up to stream directly to a computer, as I would like to record classes, and some of them are 8-12 hours. If the Contour +2 took still pictures I would compromise on the picture aspect because I shoot a lot of outdoor action stuff, and a waterproof helmet cam would be nice. Right now I use a Nikon S8000, and liked it, but it just wasn't durable (plus the sound issues) I know I am asking a lot, and will have to compromise something, but I cannot go over $400-$500 budget. Please recommend something you think would work

Hi...!!! I have a working Nokia 2690 and a Nokia 114 phone (both having working cameras). Can you guide me how can I use them to build a live CCTV camera (non-recording one) connected with my Laptop (by any means) so that I can see on my Laptop what is going outside the main gate of my home...? I would be really thankful for your advice and ideas.

Hello, Is it possible to make a pinhole lens for a compact digital camera? I mean an add-on; nothing that requires dismantling the camera. I've looked around on the internet and realise that it is easy to make a pinhole lens with a DSLR; I tried the same technique with my compact but the result is as shown. I don't mind experimenting further but I just thought that I would check if it is possible and worth pursuing ; and if not, why not? Thank you.

Came across this interesting camera that fuses the images from multiple lenses. https://light.co/camera I suppose it is a "light field camera" as described here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-field_camera Any suggestions on possible solutions, or links to similar projects? Prefferable that uses lenses from disposed of smartphones.

Automated pan/tilt surveillance system. Camera will be mounted under/inside a clear dome. Want to add Infra-Red spotlight. If light is mounted inside the dome with the camera, I'll have reflections from the inside surface of the dome causing a problem for the camera. Can't find a "non-reflective" spray coating but even if I do, it will affect the camera view (fuzzy picture) Anybody have any ideas ?

I would like to see this on a paintball of a airsoft gun :) or other gadjet. Could be a digital camera, or something new :)

Ive been studying the intertubes for a bit now and I cant seem to find an explanation on how a disposable camera flash works in detail. I mean I understand that it runs with two transformers, one at 300v output to charge the cap and the other to help discharge the payload through the xenon bulb run at 2000v output. but a transformer doesn't work with out a pulse or rapid continuous change in voltage. so how is it inverting to ac or am I missing something stupid

First off I'll tell you to NOT TOUCH A CHARGED CAMERA CAPACITOR, IT HURTS. I had a disposible film camera that I took apart. How do I discharge it? If I cut one of the leads off the compacitor would it discharge or explode, damage the circuit board? How long would it take to self discharge?

A friend and I are currently developing a turret that has a stationary camera attached to it, and two servo motors that move the actual gun part of the turret up/down and left/right. I am using software already developed for the program, and I plan to use my NXT to run the software and act as the driver for the servo motors using some modified cables. My only problem is that since I am running the software on the NXT, I need to be able to set up the USB webcam I have so that it inputs it's data into the NXT unit. The problem is, I have no idea how to do this. I was thinking of using the standard cable the NXT comes with that has a USB end, and connecting it to the USB end of my camera with a double female USB adaptor, but I'm not entirely sure that it will read this as an input. Also, I need that port available for when I calibrate the system on the computer. Does anywone know how I can modify the male USB connector of the camera so that I can plug it into one fo the NXT's input ports? Any help would be great. Thanks!

I was taking apart a disposable camera today and found this thing. It looks like it is probably a coil of some sort, and it has a little brother hanging out on another part of the circuitboard. The big one is about 1 cm across, and the little one is about 5mm. What, precisely is it, what does it do, how does it do it, and if I replaced it with a bigger one, what would happen? In idiot-english, please, I'm not well-versed on electrical devices. The little one, especially, reminds me of an ultra-small high-tension coil. Is that what it is? Does it perform precisely the same duty in this circuit?

Most of these have a inverter with 5 pins. Side A: 2 pins. Side b: 3 pins.Well, mine came with 4 pins total.http://members.misty.com/don/kflashm.gifAs you can see theres 2 transistors.. MY question / idea.. Why cant u just delete the transistors? Like...Left side of inverter Top = Battery + Bottom = Battery -Right side of inverter: Top = Line to capacitor Bottom = Odly Battery +Is there ANY way i can hook this up Easier? I WANTED to cut the circuit to that super small size, with a LED, Transistor, Diode, and inverter. But .. Thats impossible with these.. and i got 8 of the 4-pin ones!! ARG!

Hi, im building a capacitor bank for my coilgun, and I have 17 disposable camera capacitors in them. (wired in parallel (or whatever one means + is atached to +, and - is atached to -)) But for some reason wenever I start chrging it, after a little wile, it makes a huge spark across one of the capacitors. That probobly means its arcing right? but its only 300 volts (there wired in parelell so only the amperage goes up, not the volts). I then tryed to charge the caps to a point before they arced, wich took about 1 min (the battery is full) and my ammo only shot 3 inches! 17 capacitors, charging for 1 min, and it slid across the floor 3 inches! I have no idea what im doing wrong. Im using wire from a microwave motor (wich is realy small) for the coil, and its 5 layers thick, wrapped around a hollowed out pen. So, to sum it all up, here are the main problems: 1) the caps arc when charging 2) the ammo only goes 3 @#%!ing INCHES!!!!!! arg! Ps, i heard someware, that if you have enought amps, it will arc even with lower voltages. Maby thats whats happening? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! :(

I just picked up a pair of the eyeclops nightvision monocle for $50 after screwing with a pair a friend has, i have been messing with them and despite the fact they look like a toy, they are pretty impressive. I plan on modifying them so their less design oriented and more practical. My question to anyone who knows about or has a pair of these how hard would it be to hook a camera up to them. my plan is to take a webcam and remove its camera then solder wires from the webcam to the camera on the monocle. anyone else have any ideas?http://egeste.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/jakks_nightvision_goggles.jpg

Hi Everyone, Need some wisdom on a good camera to get for a multi-touch ftir screen. i've destroyed two cameras so far trying to making this thing work (to no avail) :-( #1 was a Logitech quickcam pro 9000 (had to rip apart the AF mechanism to get to the IR filter) #2 was a Logitech quickcam chat, which i successfully converted (ie pulling the IR filter and putting in a visible light filter - film), but the thing would work in low light levels to save its own soul, and turns out CMOS sensors are no good for this kind of application from what I'm reading. So if anyone out there has a camera that they've had particularly good luck with that they'd like to share the name of with me, I'd be ever so grateful. Eviscerating cameras has started to become an expensive proposition for me, so the fewer the better! Thanks!
