Photoshop Coloring Question? Answered

Hi! I have a really old version of Photoshop, it came with adobe creative suite 2... Anyway, I'm working on a project and I need to image black and white (grayscale, I guess) except for a single object in the picture. That will be in color. I have never used this program before and could use a few pointers on how to do this, being a total amateur.  Thanks!

Inverted color crosshair?

Hello robots. Is there any to get a small dot center of your screen that inverts all color behind it? Kind of like the Minecraft crosshair, except it is always shown in the foreground on top off all programs. My little bro plays like this on his t.v. but with small piece of tape in the exact center. It would be really useful while playing FPS games. I know I'm making things complicated, but I'd rather not have adhesive residue on my monitor.

Color Mixing Cube

Yesterday I was fooling around in Unity 3d (Video Game Development Software), and I created 13 particle systems, that show how red, green, and blue light, mix into white.  Every vertex is a basic RGB color. The colors shown are Black, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and White. The colors parallel to each other mix. If you use Unity, and you want the Prefab, I have it for download.

Ribon cable colors

Hi all,   I just read the "Web controlled powerstrip" by rleddington. A great build and it brought something to mind; Most everybody knows the resistor color code. The rainbow ribbon cables follow that same code. A lot of folks are unaware of this. There are ten colors and if you have more than ten wires, the color pattern repeats. If you know resistor code, this makes it a lot less confusing when wiring up a lot of circuits. If you follow the pins number/color on one end, the other end goes real easy without having to look up or follow a chart you made.   Hope this helps! Thanks again for all the great projects.

7 Color LED Help

I have recently bought two 7 color blinking LED's from RadioShack and learned how to make them change colors and such. I have figured out that if you put a momentary push button switch (with 4 pins) onto the "switch" pin to ground you can get it to change to a solid color then to the cycling of all colors forever. I have two of them set up in parallel, they both start at the same time but slowly become out of sync. Can anyone recommend anything I can do to keep them in sync? I plan on putting these in my car someday as floor lights and it would be nice to have all the lights change color at the same time and not have to keep pressing the darn button over and over again to reset the LED. Any other tips regarding LED's would be appreciated. I am kind of a noob at this so please try and "dumb it down" so I can understand. I am only just grasping the basics of hobby electronics but am very eager to learn more. Actually, any tips in general that any hobby electronics enthusiast should know would be nice. Color changing LED faucet?

I already have a preliminary circuit using a thermistor, an LM311 comparator and a couple LED's. Just wondering if anyone had any tips of how to refine or whatever. Also hitting a roadblock on how to power this, as I want to make it entirely analog (no microcontrollers, just op amps and the like) and I want it to be fitted to an actual faucet nozzle. If it is fitted to a nozzle, space is very limited and batteries are really not desired. I was thinking along the lines of a mini waterwheel or something that uses kinetic energy from the water.

color code on a samsung LCD? Answered

I had this old laptop wich had a burned out motherboard, so i took it apart for parts. obviously, the LCD screen caught my eye. this thing has 1 connector, with  bout 40 pins. 5 wires are going to the inverter (i guess taht's it at least) and the rest goes to a circuitry on the back of the LCD. now, there are 15 wires (D-sub standard right?) going to the LCD, and i would love to know how to wire them, that is, what wire takes what voltage, data, or whatever it needs. btw, the connector to the circuitry has 20 pins, dunno what that means (multiple ground lines?) the only chip on the circuitry is labeled: LXD91810                                                           VS246AB note, the 6 could also be an 8, some genius used a permanent marker to write a 3 over it, wich makes i very hard to read... is there any site online that is about these kind of mods? i was looking but couldnt find any... i have included pictures of what i think is important, please ask if theyr either unclear, you need anything else or whatever :P any info is welcome and greatly apreciated!

How to make a "Timed" LED Color Sequencer ?

Ex: green for 3mins, then fade to red for 3mins, then fade to blue for 3mins then fade back to green.. Time as 3mins is just a example but must be for a longer period then just a fade and longer then just a couple of sec. Led color control w rotary switch?

I am working on a project to rewire an old industry hair dryer into a funky floor lamp. It has a cool panel on the back that would fit some kind of a rotary switch.  I would like to use an existing product or products to emit blue light and yellow light from the bell of the dryer. The rotary switch would allow me to ramp it from the blue leds to the yellow leds with some cross over in the middle. my challenge is that, while I understand basic electrical circuits, I know very little when it gets into the more technical circuits and arduino stuff. I want to learn but this isn't the project for it. does anyone know of an easy way to set this up?  My  thought was a set of blue strips, a set of yellow strips and a rotary controller. But, I don't know what to search for online. thanks!

Resistor

I bought 100 leds of ebay a while ago and it came with 100 free resistors. What im not too sure about is what ohm they are. On the ebay page it dosent say if they go with the leds the shop specialises in leds and gives similar resistors with almost every order. All it says on the page is that there perfect for working with 12v or something. I tried looking at those colour code calulators but I still couldnt figure it out. I knew someone here must know. The colours in the pic arent great so I wrote what they are aswell.

RGB LED Sun and Moon

So, I'm working on this thing, its just an idea right now so I won't delve into it too deep, but I want to use a single RGB LED behind a frosted plexi screen as a Sun and another as a Moon, that will move on a clock motor. Could I get a white with a yellow tinge and a white with a blue tinge with a RGB and a few fixed resistors? I'm just wondering if that would be possible. Would I just set the red and green components to 70% and the blue to 100% for the moon and the red and green at 100% and blue at 70% for the sun? Thanks for the help. I don't have any RGBs so I'm just trying to theorize right now.

Can I put Color-changing multi-color RGB LEDs in series??

I need to run a bunch of slow-changing multicolor off of 12vdc.  The LEDs are each rated 2.5-3.4V 20ma.  I'd like to keep efficiency up by reducing the number of series current-limiting resistors and the voltage across them.  So...  Can you put 3 multi-colored LEDs in series with a current limiting resistor (typ 150 ohms) to run off 12vdc... like you do with standard LEDs?  The datasheet specs a operating voltage range and 20ma current. Or...  Does the current draw (effective resistance) of the LED change as the colors change??... Example: When displaying purple, red & blue are both lit. But for red, only the 1 internal LED is lit. If the current changes and the different LEDs are out of time, it would change the voltage across the different LEDs and the series resistor. (I know you can't run an on-off flashing LED off a higher-than-spec'ed voltage because the current goes between almost 0ma and 20ma, putting nearly the full supply voltage across the LED when it is OFF.) So, can I put them in series successfully?? Also, how accurate is the color-changing timebase?   Will they quickly go out of sync.. assuming the same brand and lot.

I know this HAS to be possible as www.hackaday.com/2008/11/29/gameboy-color-on-an-led-matrix/ The guy says in his comments on the youtube page that he does IN fact have a real live gameboy color hooked up to the LED matrix. Yet he does not explain how he hooked it up, obviously he did it somehow. Does ANYONE have any bloody clue as to how this is done? Blinking bi-color LED on music?

Hi people, I'm looking for a simple circuit wich can blink multiple bi-color 2-pin LEDs(using both colors of course). It needs to blink on the beat of music, using a mic as input. I would also like the sensitivity to be adjustable. And it would be fantastic if all this could run on 3 AA batteries(4.5V). I've done some research but couldn't find anything like this, only circuits that blink a bi-color LED or flash a LED on music. Unfortunately I haven't got enough skill to combine these into a working circuit. TheExternalDisk
