digital camera? Answered

I have seen somewhere a cut down digital camera rehoused in a wooden box. the thought strikes me- I have several redundant Olympus lenses could I successfully take a point and shoot digital camera, remove the lens, mount the camera body in a box and add my Olympus lenses to the front to make an exchangeable lens digital camera? I realize I would need to get the lens to CCD distance right but that doesn't seem to be all that difficult - I can engineer an adjustable mount if necessary. it seems a pity to have all these lenses and nothing to do with them. Opinions guys?

Digital crossover..?

Well people, since no one want's to help me 'Build' a hardware crossover, perhaps someone on here might know of how I could use one of my spare laptops and feed my input signal to my amp into the mic port and equalize it/cut off the high freq's and send it back out the headphone jack. Surely there's some kind of program that would give me control over the output signal like giving it a sharp cutoff at 60hz or something like that. I'm tired of trying to figure out what to do with these laptops laying around, so that's why I'm asking would it be possible to turn my dell (2ghz 512mb of ram, simple audio card) into a digital crossover with even a visual output would be nice. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?!?? Thanks!

1. Why is the use of a mechanical mirror that has to flip out of the way still revered in Photography circles? 2. Why do Digital Cameras still use a mechanical shutter? I have what they call a bridge camera that uses a small LCD viewer (as well as a large colour LCD screen) and as far as I can tell uses an electronic shutter.  It seems to work well and is reliable.

Digital clock hack

I've been trying to do more DIY stuff recently, so I figured I would start out with an easy project. Basically, I was wondering if it is possible to modify a standard digital clock so it could display different messages through an lcd display based on the current time. Since most clocks have an alarm feature, I thought this would be pretty easy to do, but then again I could be completely wrong. I know how to solder and such, so I shouldn't have too many technical problems if I get a push in the right direction. Also, I know how to do a bit of coding, and I'm good at adapting so I'm sure I could find out some way to make this work. Any help is much appreciated.

+Help with Digital PSU+?

Hi everyone after many days of constant tinkering, I finally got the circuit of my Digital Power supply made. However, I am experienced difficulty in the programming side. I am using an Arduino with an LCD (and various other io such as a current sensor, voltage divider, button and rotary encoder). My program is limited to what I could find online for an ammeter/ voltmeter sketch. I wanted help or some guidance in figuring out how to use the rotary encoder to 'set' a voltage (visible on the lcd) and when i press the button, i send a certain signal to my DAC which is connected to my psu circuit. and i wanted to be able to switch over from voltage 'setting' to current 'setting'. Frankly, i have no idea how to do this :s ! here is a video of what i want it to almost look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGnTzT_OCpc Thanks

Digital Out on an iMac?

So I have an iMac, running Vista. It's late 2009 version, newest with the exception of the new 27" models. I'm trying to connect the mini-digital out to the SPDIF  in on my audio amp. I bought a cable, and an adapter. It just doesn't work... The adapter works fine, seeing how it's just a hollow piece of metal and plastic. The cable is also working fine - I've tested it with my TV. The iMac has output, you can see it on the other end of the fiber. Everything I've checked seems to be working, and there's only one possible explanation I can think of. The iMac is transmitting with a different format. I'm new to optical audio cables, so If there is only one format, aka SPDIF and TOSLINK are the same, please let me know. And if they are not, can someone inform me on what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it?

Need help with state transition table and diagram

I need to make a sequential circuit which output will used for my combinational circuit input. I already made my combinational circuit which gives output in 7 segment display. Digital Conversion of Folding Camera?

Ever since i saw the 'ible on converting a land camera to take 35 mm film, I figured there had to be a way to take this even further. I'm even thinking the first baby step shouldn't be too hard- simply mounting a digital camera to the frame. Now, it would be a little more complex than this- taking the lcd screen off of the base, and putting it on the back of the camera, mounting the actual machinery of the camera where the original lens was, and perhaps even mounting buttons (or on some digital cameras, the wheels for 'scene selection' on the base of the land camera. The only problem I can find with this simple conversion is the fact that it seems most digital cameras use micro ribbons now, which would be (as far as I can tell) incredibly hard to splice and extend (which would be necessary to get the lcd screen, and other components mounted on the frame of the land camera). Does anyone have any ideas for this, or are is my goal too lofty? THanks.

analogue-digital cmos chips? Answered

Is there a chip like the LM3914 that takes an analogue voltage input and turns it into a digital signal? (preferably BCD, but decimal is fine too), but without the inverting output, so I can use it with other CMOS chips? I basically just want a chip that takes an analogue signal, and based on a threshold, divides it up into a decimal (or binary) signal. Specifically, I want to use it with a thermistor and a 7-segment display to make a digital thermometer.

Digitizer not working after replacement.

Hello, My wife accidentally crashed her phone digitizer (Samsung Galaxy Core 2 (G355H)). Its was still working, but you know... Being the type of man which always desire to fix something - I put myself to that mission. So I bought a new digitizer from one of eBay sellers. And sadly after replacing... the new digitizer was not working at all. Bringing back the old crashed digitizer to test it - it was still working. Tried to update firmware. Still the same. So I decided that It was faulty and asked for seller to resend the item. The new digitizer (number 2) came. Still the same stuff :(. Started to google. Found the solution on the internet. I have to let the phone boot with the old digitizer, when the boot is complete, need to remove the lcd and digitizer, replaced with the new digitizer (the phone has to stay on). And after that connected back the lcd... and its works... but sadly (as the author of this solution) if I reboot the phone - will not work again. PLEASE... Show me the direction what I need to do or where to search the answer

I assume the answer is no, because I can't find any examples of it, but my question is - is it possible to get the boke effects such as stars and hearts using a small lensed digital camera? I've tried a scaled down version to the lens cap cut-outs used on SLRs but no luck; even with a big star or a very, very small star. I put the camera on a tripod and use the candle light setting and manual focus or macro to get the blur but no stars. I just want to know if it is physically possible before I waste any more time on it. The lens is the size of a penny. Thank you.
