Tiny timer with display

Hi I want to make a timer - a very small one - for using in school, for cookling and so on... It needs to have a display with at least four digits, five buttons(reset, on/off, start/stop, minutes and hours). I'm planning on powering it by a CR2032, or another button-sized battery. Does anyone have schematics or circuits I could have a look at? In advance, thank you:)

0-12V Digital Display?

Here's what I need, and haven't been able to figure out how to do it: I designed a motor speed controller that runs a 12V fan.  Speed control is via PWM through a 50K linear Potentiometer. I need to be able to read the percentage of run voltage ie: 0V=0%, 6V=50%, 12V=100%.  I want to display this on 3 7-segment LED displays. Anyone with insight would be greatly appreciated. Brian

I was wondering if it is possible to have an icon or marker show on a screen where you are pointing, as a screen displaying a camera feed and an icon to show where it is pointing. My initial idea is to use a laser pointer and an icon to show on the screen where it points by using the colour of the pointer.  I simply wish to see if its possible in one way or another and what methods there are. (not sure I am phrasing it right so apologies if I need to clarify it further) thank you for any information you can you can give me

Laptop Display Upgrade to Touch?

I wish to upgrade my Laptop Display from Non Touch to Touch. I did a bit of research on the internet, but am unable to find a proper answer. Is it possible? I would love to migrate from half HD non touch display to full HD touch display (even IPS). But here in India, I'm unable to find it in this config for 15.6" size (atleast, not cheaply). I have found one display which has a few things common with my old display. Both have TFT with LED Backlight, same size, aspect ratio, resolution and no of pins. Old Display: 15.6 inch TFT with LED Backlight (Non touch) (16:9). Resolution: 1366 x 768. 40 Pins. Part Number: B156XW04V5 Datasheet: https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/A20/A20-LCD15.6/resources/B156XW04V5.pdf Cost: ₹5000 ($75 approx) Proposed New Display: 15.6 inch TFT with LED Backlight (Touch) (16:9). Resolution: 1366 x 768. 40 Pins. Part Number: B156XTT01 Datasheet: http://www.datasheetspdf.com/datasheet/download.php?id=923648 Cost: ₹12500 ($180 approx) Would I need to change LVDS cable as well? Existing LVDS Cable: Part Number: P5LJ0 Datasheet: http://www.s-manuals.com/pdf/motherboard/compal/compal_la-7221p_r1.0_schematics.pdf Here are the answers to some questions you might have: 1. Laptop is Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG. 2. My Laptop did not have any variant with 1080p display or touch display. 3. The old display is slightly cracked. Hence I need to change it anyway. 4. The top flap, display mounting brackets and bezel are damaged too. And the laptop is 5 years old and am unable to get the replacement parts. Hence I am planning on building a new housing for the new display, in any case. (Suggestions in this regard are also welcome) So a bit of variation in physical dimensions is not a problem. 5. Motherboard is Intel i5 2410M with Intel 3000 graphics processor. Graphics Card is Nvidia 540M. (I couldn't find supported resolutions on official websites, but according to 3rd Party websites, both should support 1080p) 6. I have some experience with Electronic Disassembly and Assembly. 7. I can do soldering, but I'm not very good at it. Hence, would like to avoid it, if possible.

Computer as composite display device

Hi, Okay, here is my problem: I found in my garage a small video camera (not with tape, recording or anything, it just plugs directly into the tv to watch the area) which I had got some years ago, now I would like to start using it again, however I don't think the only tv in the house is a good monitor (it doesn't provide any recording and it already has all rca inputs in use). What I would like to do is connect it to my pc and view the video (and listen to audio) on my computer, then like this I can also record video to the HDD if necessary. The camera has a composite video output and a mono audio output. Thanks, All help is appreciated. P.S. The problem with TV tuner cards is that I already have one, but it is not with me so I can not use it, on the other hand since I do already HAVE one I am not going to buy another one. Damn it when I thought that tuner card was not going to be useful and decided not to take it with me.

1 Console 4 displays

So here's the problem, my friends and I are in college and love our x-box console, but hate the small screen. Not having a big scren, we are trying to find out how to get the one console to have four screens. We all have smaller TV's and there is on medium one in our living room. The game splits up 4 players into equal quaters of the screen. My thought is that the x-box video should go into a laptop and then be split u into 4 displays, with the laptop screen being the a full screen. The laptop in question has 1 S-video, 1 standard monitor output, and 5 USB ports. How do we do this, for cheap? I'm thinking it would maybe work like those walls of TV's that make up 1 big picture.

Neotech NT7086 display and arduino?

I found a couple of these older looking dot matrix LCDs in some electronic logbooks that didnt work. it was a 14 pin connector, so i figured why not try it out. i found the pinout of each pin using the chips that were on board, but i don`t know where to go from here, or if i should even bother. the display was made by or for hantronix, and they have a touch layer that could be used as well. each display has 7 of the NT7086PQ chips on it, a 74HC74D, a 74HC40103D, and an LM324. it was originally connected via a flat flex cable, but it had a convenient place for headers to plug it into a breadboard. the 74HC40103D is an 8-bit synchronous binary down counter: http://www.nxp.com/documents/data_sheet/74HC40103.pdf the 74HC74D is a Dual D-type flip-flop: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/302/74HC_HCT74-225071.pdf the Neotech chips are LCD display drivers: http://www.crystalfontz.com/controllers/NT7086.pdf upon inspecting the physical properties of the display I can see there are the rubber/carbon edge contacts on two sides and a ribbon on one end. The pinout i figured out is: 14 is GND 13 is base on SOT23 transistor     (connected to 12 on parent board) 12 collector on a SOT23 transistor 11 gets pulled low at some point (pulled low on parent board) 10 is power 9 is cl2          (unactive high?) (on one set of neotech chips, assuming the edge contact drivers) 8 Clock input (74HC40103D) 7 does nothing 6 is d4 on one chip? 5 is display off  (active low) 4 is d4 3 is d3 2 is d2 1 is d1 So i would appreciate any input people have. I would ideally like to drive this using an arduino/atmega, and although i have not read the neotech datasheet to much depth it would appear to work similar to the popular parallel displays, but maybe with different syntaxes. so is this a possible thing, or is it a fruitless endeavor? thanks in advance.

electronic numeric display board for volleyball

I have searched the Internet hard for a reasonably priced electronic numeric display board to no avail.  I am interested in constructing a remote control scoreboard for volleyball similar to basketball scoreboards deployed in high schools.  For many years I have played and continue to play a LOT of drop in volleyball at various local Rec Centers.  It would be great to be able to keep track of the score with a remote control device in your pocket while playing the game. Alternatively please let me know of any high schools being torn down which could be an opportunity to save a basketball scoreboard that would otherwise be relegated to a land fill site. When you think about the utility of such a device, why hasn't this project been done before?  Maybe it has and if you have any info then PLEASE forward.   I would seriously entertain any posted price for such a completed device if it exists as the hero factor is huge.  The advantage of building it yourself is that you are in a position to manufacture duplicates for others and you become the repair man. The bigger the display board, the better.  I know they exist but are mostly cost prohibitive.  At this point I am prepared to start with a small display for the prototype in order to get this project started since I am very enthused.

Can i run a Rasberry Pi and a 10" Display from the same Battery? Answered

Hi, im planning on creating a portable Rasberry Pi Desktop. I found a bunch of circuit plans to run a RPI and a 10" Display - however iam not statisfied with what people came up with. 1. Issue - in the circuits i found they connected a booster to a 3,7v Lipo Battery to run a 5V Rasberry Pi and a second booster and the same battery to run the Display. This is a pretty incomplicated but impractical design if you ask me - the benefit here is that the boosters allow you to charge both batterys whilst the devices are running - but you need to connect 2 different cables. I would like to be able to charge the System with only a single power cable (Micro USB) attached. 2. Issue - The 10" Display does run on 5V, 980mA - but it is not reccomdendet to use it under 6V, 780mA - as a person who likes staying on the safe side - i would like to run it on 6v. Can anyone come up with a concept so i can run both the Rasberry Pi and the Display on the same Battery and charge the Battery whilst the devices are running? I thought about using a 6v Lipo Battery pack - but i need something to lower the voltage to supply the Pi correctly. Is that a good idea? Can you reccomend some other solution? PS - Is there also a way to monitor the remaining Charge in the Battery?

Some tips for digital calipers user

Do you have a digital caliper, and what do you do when there is some truoble on the display of digital calipers? Now i will share some tips to all of my new friends, and i sincerely hope that they will offer you some help when you needed.           When using the digital calipers for a long, long time, there will be some following troubles:         1. When digital calipers occur to the flashing digits, that means it is in low voltage. So the users should replace the button cell.         2. When there is no display on the digital calipers, maybe it is in low voltage or in poor contact. For the reason of low voltage, the user need to replace the button cell; while for the reason of poor contact, the user need to adjust and clean the battery seat.         3. When the display just shows the fixed digits, it means there is accidental trouble in circuit. So the user should take out the battery and put in back after one minute.
